    lesWorld Oils casing reference tables provide information

    on premium casing connection dimensions, available steel and fiberglass grades. These tables are organized by connection manufacturer, and listings show page numbers for cut-away diagrams (not to scale) for visual cross-reference with tabular data. Details of connection type and sealing mechanism follow manufacturer and connection name or designation. Critical tubular and connection areas can be used with minimum yield or ultimate strengths in designs, and to calculate casing connection tensile capacity. The category yield torque adds to this years tabular data. For clarification, yield torque implies the torque value beyond the maximum

    recommended make-up torque, where the connection still retains full ratings just before reaching plastic defor-mation in the steel. For your convenience, manufacturer contact information appears on page C-58. These tables are intended as a guide when planning casing programs. Individual manufacturers representatives should be con-sulted before making final decisions.

    CENTRON INTERNATIONAL INC. DH8C uses premium 4-thread-per-inch connectors with coarse, shallow-angle thread forms that are rugged and more resistant to stab damage and cross threading. Features O-ring seals that prevent uid penetra-tion into the thread seal area and keep dope from entering the for-mation in injection applications, minimizing the need for acidiz-ing. 8 designation indicates the industry standard, API 8RD threads. Threads are LTC and are available in non-galling fe-male composite, assuring easy make-up and superior breakout performance. Can be run with common oil eld tools.

Precision threads use graphite as an added lubri-cant to avoid damage and wear. It is designed and manufactured to resist creep, maximum ten-sile strength and guarantee breakout. Laminate handles up to 4,000 psi at 200F.

    Fiber Glass Systems, Thread-ed and Coupled (aliphatic amine cured epoxy) casing features premium molded API 8rd EUE long form threaded and coupled connection. Threads are molded for smooth, sealed, corrosion-resistant thread sur-face with graphite and ceramic reinforcement, which provides lower breakout torque values. Precision threads use graph-ite as an added lubricant to avoid damage and wear. It is designed and manufactured to resist creep, maximum tensile strength and guarantee break-out. Laminate handles up to 4,000 psi at 200F.

    Fiber Glass Systems, ACT In-tegral Joint (anhydride cured epoxy) casing features premium molded API 8rd EUE long form integral connection. Threads are molded for smooth, sealed, corrosion-resistant thread sur-face with graphite and ceramic reinforcement, which provides lower breakout torque values. Precision threads use graph-ite as an added lubricant to avoid damage and wear. It is designed and manufactured to resist creep, maximum tensile strength and guarantee break-out. Laminate handles up to 2,000 psi at 150F.

    GB Connections and Hydril Distributors 3P (3-pitch thread) is a large-OD, threaded-and-coupled connection. Designed using proven the Twin Cantilever Coupling concept, it features a deep-stab, no-cross, 3-pitch thread. Heavy cross section pro-vides reinforcement at coupling center to minimize distortion from make-up and combined loading for superior make/break repeatability. Like the GB Butt with the API Buttress thread, it exceeds pipe body ratings even under severe combined loading situations. Handling and running procedures for casing with this connection are the same as API BTC.

    GB Connections and Hydril Distributors GB Butt is a gas-tight, threaded-and-coupled connection designed using the proven Twin Cantilever Coupling concept. Enhancement at the center reinforces the coupling, develops high bearing pressures in mating thread elements and provides pressure integrity ex-ceeding pipe body ratings. It is an economical substitute for any positive type seal connection, can provide special clearance without loss of pressure integ-rity, and is ideal for directional or horizontal drilling. The GB Butt has high torque resistance, allowing string rotation to aid advancement to target.

    GRANT PRIDECO ADVANCED NJO improves compression and bending efciency with the addi-tion of a signicantly increased torque shoulder area and an im-proved thread form. The torque shoulder conguration was modied to provide additional radial support from adjacent pin and box surfaces. Improved premium thread form sup-ports most of the compression load, incorporating a hooked, or negative, tension ank and minimizing axial clearances. Metal-to-metal seal enhances external pressure sealing, which acts independently of applied axial loads, torsion load and eld make-up conditions.

    GRANT PRIDECO BIG NJO is a proven, rugged connector with extensive success in deep, high-pressure and corrosive gas wells. It provides high ten-sile efciencies with near-ush conguration, it suitable for critical casing, liner and tieback strings, features a two-step ta-pered, hooked thread form that eliminates jump-out, and metal-to-metal radial seal to ensure gas-tight pressure integrity.

    GRANT PRIDECO HD-L con-nection is a ush OD connection with superior pressure resis-tance and structural integrity. Connection design features 5o internal and external (sizes

    GRANT PRIDECO ATS-E is a Semi-Premium threaded and coupled connection with a pat-ented thread sealing design. With robust, hooked 3-pitch thread form for 133/820 (4-pitch for 7117/8) make-up is fast and dependable. Abutting pin noses offer enhanced torsional capa-bilities, ensure proper connec-tion makeup at the rig, as well as compressive loading resistance. The couplings incorporate API Buttress coupling stock dimen-sions. Performance ratings were tested and veried using the ISO 13679 connection qualication standard. The ATS-E offers ten-sile, burst and collapse ratings equal to pipe body ratings.

    GRANT PRIDECO DWC/C is a Semi-Premium threaded and coupled connection designed specically for drilling with casing applications. Connec-tor design features a patented fatigue resistance groove in the coupling to increase fatigue life along with a pin to pin torque shoulder system that greatly increases the amount of drill-ing torque that can be applied. It also features an API Buttress runout threadform, optional re-silient Teon seal ring, and uses API Buttress coupling stock.

    GRANT PRIDECO XLC-S inte-gral wedge thread connection was developed for structural applications where tension and compression strength, bend-ing strength, and fatigue per-formance dominate the string design criteria. XLC-S includes an external metal-to-metal seawater exclusion seal mak-ing this connection ideal for the outermost string of an offshore well. XLC-S is available in 20-inch and larger diameters. Typical applications for XLC-S connections include platform conductors or drive pipe, jackup exploratory wells conductors, subsea well conductors or jet strings, and tieback strings.

    GRANT PRIDECO XLF is an inte-gral connection with the threads machined directly into the pipe wall, producing the ideal con-nection geometry of a ush ID and ush OD prole. XLF uses wedge thread technology with a dovetail thread shape. Internal metal-to-metal seal makes XLF a choice when pressure integrity is the primary design driver. XLF is available in 20-inch and larger diameters. Typical applications for XLF connections include in-termediate and surface casing strings, downhole liner strings, casing for deep wells with tight annular clearances, and tieback strings.

    HSC CORP. HSC is a non-upset, threaded and coupled pre-mium connection with a tapered thread and metal-to-metal seal. The seal is maximized by stor-ing the torqued energy across the 15 shoulder. With HSC coupling, joint performance ex-ceeds the tensile strength of the pipe body.

    HUNTING ENERGY SERVICES (HES) BIG O SEAL-LOCK is a threaded and coupled, non-upset connection for large-di-ameter pipe. Features include 3-pitch hooked thread design with gas-tight, metal-to-metal seal and internal torque shoul-der. Thread geometry and form allow for easy stabbing, quick make-up and multiple make-and-break. No welding or ad-ditional inspection is needed because it is threaded on plain-end pipe.

    HUNTING ENERGY SERVICES (HES) FJ-150 includes an ID/OD ush connection, which makes it ideal for high-grade steels and chrome. The 90 load ank and large radius stab ank allow low hoop stresses and reduced run-ning times. Axial metal-to-metal nose seal is created by an inter-nal shoulder, while the external shoulder creates an external torque shoulder. Large torque shoulders allow for high torque capabilities.

    HUNTING ENERGY SERVICES (HES) SEAL-LOCK FLUSH is a premium connection with metal-to-metal seal, hooked thread form and external torque shoulder for liner applications. It offers excellent clearance and pipe body burst. Hooked thread form and geometry provide easy make-up and eliminate radial separation between mating pin and box.

    HUNTING ENERGY SERVICES (HES) KC CONVERTIBLE in-cludes a converter ring press t into J-area after mill end make-up, which provides a smooth bore for turbulent-free ow, positive torque stop for eld end make-up, and metal-to-metal seal when used accordingly to pin end specications. Manu-factured to 1/5 of API tolerances ensures ideal match with API 8 round pins. Ability to withstand bending and torsional loads downhole make it ideal for hori-zontal and deviated wells.

    HUNTING ENERGY SERVICES (HES) SEAL-LOCK APEX is a new threaded and coupled, non-upset premium connection designed to provide internal and external pressure integrity under extreme loads. APEX uti-lizes a patented sealing thread form and a metal-to-metal seal to provide performance ratings that equal or exceed pipe body ratings in tension, internal and external pressure. A negative load-ank thread and advanced connection geometry results in smooth trouble-free running.

    HUNTING ENERGY SERVICES (HES) SEAL-LOCK BOSS is a casing connection that is cost-competitive with API Buttress. It uses a patented sealing and unique pin-to-pin torque shoul-der for enhanced compressive loading. Rugged thread form and geometry result in deep stabbing and quick make-up without cross threading.

    HUNTING ENERGY SERVICES (HES) SEAL-LOCK HC threaded and coupled connection is for light to mid-weight tubulars. Features include gas-tight, met-al-to-metal seal, torque shoulder and hooked threadform. Geom-etry allows multiple make and breaks and virtually eliminates cross threading. Stresses are minimized to provide superior performance in H2S and CO2.

    HUNTING ENERGY SERVICES (HES) SEAL-LOCK HT is a threaded and coupled casing connection featuring a tapered run-out hooked thread form and unique pin-to-pin shoulder to provide excellent torsional, bending and tensile perfor-mance in horizontal and direc-tional wells. The close tolerance thread form provides pipe body pressure capability under the most extreme well conditions.

    HUNTING ENERGY SERVICES (HES) SEAL-LOCK SEMI FLUSH bi-directional metal-to-metal sealing delivers full-body API rating internally and signicantly enhanced external performance. Internal and external shoulders permit visual make-up indication and increased torque rating for downhole rotation applications. Angles and areas of the stab anks and torque shoulders are optimized to create enhanced compressive ratings.

    HUNTING ENERGY SERVICES (HES) TKC MMS for internally plastic-coated casing. Teon center ring allows for turbulent-free ow. When used with pin end nish specications, a gas-tight seal is provided, along with 100% holiday-free connection. Precise make-up is achieved by a proprietary coupling and pin gauging system. It is manu-factured to 1/5 of API tolerances to ensure ideal match with API 8 round pins.

    HUNTING ENERGY SERVICES (HES) TKC LTC has high-tem-perature, elastomeric internal and external seals to block pres-sure from thread area, which allows threads to serve primar-ily as tensile joining members. Elastomeric seals can withstand repeated make and break cycles. It is manufactured to 1/5 of API tolerances to ensure best possible match with API 8 round pins. With resistance to bending and torsional loads downhole, it is ideal for horizontal and devi-ated wells.

    Hydril SuPreme LX (SLX) is recommended for production casing, tie-backs, intermediate strings and liners, particularly in clearance situations. The SLX is an integral, swaged connec-tion machined on non-upset ends with full-rated internal and external pressure reliability. Special applications include gas storage production strings and high alloy liners.

    Hydril MAC-II is recommended for production casing, inter-mediate strings and tie-backs, especially for critical heavy-wall casing strings. The MAC-II is an integral, swaged connection machined on non-upset ends with full rated internal and ex-ternal pressure reliability. Spe-cial applications include very heavy-wall casing for shifting salt intervals.

    Hydril Series 500 Type 511 is recommended for horizontal lin-ers, repair liners, drilling liners and wash pipe. Type 511, an in-tegral, pipe-body OD connection, is used in applications requiring good structural capability pri-marily in clearance situations. Special applications include wire-wrapped screens for hori-zontal and extended-reach wells and tubing salvage.

    Hydril Series 500 Type 513 is recommended for all liner applications including produc-tion liners, liners for horizontal and extended reach wells and liners that must be drilled into place. Type 513 is an integral, pipe body OD connection ma-chined on non-upset ends with full-rated internal and external pressure reliability. It has ex-cellent torque and compression strength, which permits the con-nection to be used in extreme load applications.

    Hydril Series 500 Type 521 is recommended for horizontal liners, extended reach strings, large diameter surface casing, intermediate strings and drilling and production liners. Type 521 is used in applications requiring superior structural capability, particularly for rotation-while-bending. Type 521 is an integral, swaged connection with full rated internal and external pres-sure reliability. Special applica-tions include drilling with casing and slotted liners for geothermal wells.

    Hydril Series 500 Type 523 is recommended for production casing, intermediate strings, tiebacks and drilling and pro-duction liners. Type 523 is an in-tegral, swaged connection ma-chined on non-upset ends with full-rated internal and external pressure reliability. The Type 523 with its slightly expanded box is interchangeable with the pipe body OD Type 513 connec-tion. It has excellent torque and compression strength, which permits the connection to be used in extreme load applica-tions.

    Tenaris MS (metal seal) is an improved metal-to-metal seal connection that outperforms other single metal seal and API connections. Coupled connec-tion efciency is equivalent to the pipe body. The pin end, with a protected tapered sealing sur-face, is cut on the pipe body. The box end energizes the tapered sealing surface through the reverse-angle, internal torque shoulder.

    Hydril Series 500 Type 553 is recommended for production tubing applications and work-string service. Type 553 com-bines the benets of an integral connection with the reduced cost of one end internal/external upset (OEU) pipe. It provides the excellent structural charac-teristics of the dovetail Wedge Thread with the high-pressure gas sealing reliability of a metal-to-metal seal. Type 553 is avail-able with the optional CB feature and is interchangeable with Type 503, Type 533 and Type 563.

    Hydril Series 500 Type 563 casing is recommended for pro-duction casing, tie-backs and intermediate casing. Type 563 casing connection is a threaded and coupled casing connection with a metal plus a thread seal. The Type 563 casing connection is excellent for use in longer strings and in steam injection and geothermal production strings.

    Hydril Series 500 Type 533 is recommended for production tubing, high-alloy tubing and workstring service. The Type 533 connection is excellent for high pressure-critical service and extreme bending applica-tions. Type 533 is available with the optional CB feature and is interchangeable with Type 503, Type 553 and Type 563 tubing connections.

    JFE STEEL FOX is a premium coupled plain end tubing and casing connection providing full pipe-rated strength in tension, burst, collapse and bending. Advanced contoured seal and shoulder design provide supe-rior sealing performance, high resistance to over-torque and resists back-off from thermal shock and impact by storing a high level of energy in mating parts during make-up. A unique change in thread pitch reduces high stress concentrations and provides more even load distri-bution among threads.

    JFE STEEL JFEBEAR is a premium threaded and coupled connection providing full pipe-rated strength in tension, burst and collapse. Advanced contoured seal and shoulder design provide superior sealing performance and galling resistance. Optimum thread design increases Tensile and Bend-ing Capacity and resistance to Seal Damage from Compressive Loads. Optimum angle for Thread Stab-bing Flank enables quick make up and increased resistance to Cross Threading. Available size range for tubing and casing is from 2 3/8 to 9 5/8.

    TPS TECHNITUBE TECHNISEAL is a high-performance, non-up-set tubing and casing coupling with buttress-type threads, high-compression, tapered, metal-to-metal seal and re-verse-angle shoulder. Full pipe strength is provided for tension, compression, bending and inter-nal and external pressures. It will withstand repeated make/break and is fast running, and ush ID minimizes corrosion/erosion. It is also recommended for high-strength and special alloy materials.

    TPS TECHNITUBE TPS-MUL-TISEAL-TS-4 is a high-per-formance, premium, two-step integral joint connection for high-pressure service. Available with medium and heavy-weight tubing. Thread prole with mul-tiple metal-to-metal seals and torque shoulders utilizes four threads per inch. Increased upset length guarantees 90% reparability by recutting in case of thread damage.

    TenarisBlue is a new premium connection technology designed for use in todays increasingly complex and environmentally sensitive oil and gas production activities, its all-round excellent performance characteristics add value through increasing safety, lowering trouble time and re-ducing risk.

    Tenaris 3SB has high strength for eliminating jump-out failure. With metal-to-metal internal shoulder seals, external or inter-nal pressures sufcient to col-lapse or burst casing or tubing will not disrupt leak resistance. Stabbing design virtually elimi-nates cross threading. Elec-tro-zinc plated for repeatable make-up.

    Tenaris ER High performance coupled connection without metal to metal seal, specially designed for surface and in-termediate casing. Among the most important features are the easy stabbing, non cross-threading risk, fast make-up and consistent efciency after over torque. Good and easy ref-erence for make-up due to the strong shoulder stop.

    Tenaris MS 28 connections ll the requirements of exploring for deep and sour hydrocarbon wells. It is designed for easy stabbing and make-up. De-signed to withstand handling and mishandling in the eld, the joint is a precision compo-nent capable of withstanding high mechanical stress while providing gas-tight sealing at full pressure ratings, even in the worst possible conditions. The connection was designed from the start for use with corrosion resistant alloys (CRAs).

    Tenaris MS XT/XC is designed for liner applications when high torque and high compression are required, maintaining the proven advantages of the Tena-ris MS design. Also suitable for drilling with casing.

    Tenaris MS 28 XT/XC is de-signed for liner applications when high torque and high com-pression are required, maintain-ing the proven advantages of the Tenaris MS28 design.

    Tenaris HW heavy-wall casing has high joint strength equiva-lent to pipe body strength, two metal-to-metal seals that pro-vide positive leak resistance, and a precision-machined nega-tive angle load ank connection to minimize hoop stress genera-tion. Initial misalignments are corrected by at-crested threads parallel to pipe axis. Turbulence is minimized by smooth ID con-nection to pipe body ID.

    VAM FAMILY Big Omega is a threaded and coupled connec-tion for large OD surface and intermediate casing and con-ductor pipe. Three threads per inch and steep 1:7:5 thread ta-per produce quick running times while virtually eliminating cross threading. Problems associated with welding on connectors are eliminated because coupling is threaded directly onto pipe.

    VAM FAMILY DINO VAM is a cost-effective, threaded and coupled connection for surface and intermediate casing ap-plications. Increased running reliability and reduced rig costs result from its deep stabbing, non-cross threading and fast make-up. Sealing and struc-tural strength are provided by a coarse 3-TPI tapered, hooded thread design. The connection is immune to jump-in/jump-out.

    VAM FAMILY NEW VAM is a versatile, threaded and coupled, non-upset connection that pro-vides high-tensile and sealing performance for most casing applications. Sealing is provided by a tapered metal-to-metal seal system that is energized by a reverse-angle torque shoulder. Standard coupling offers greater than 100% efciency. Coupling options are available, including resilient seal rings for back-up sealing.

    VAM FAMILY VAM ACE is ideal for critical environments. It features a low-angle, metal-to-metal seal that is further energized by a reverse-angle torque shoulder. Thread and seal geometry, developed specically for CRA materials, avoids high local contact pres-sure during stabbing, or in early make-up stages, prevents gall-ing. Tapered thread with -3o re-verse-angle load ank prevents jump-out under tension.

    VAM FAMILY VAM FJL is an integral ush joint that provides maximum running clearance and optimum strength (65% efcien-cy under tension) on medium wall. It features reverse-angle load ank for load transmission and jump-out prevention. Ideal for moderate depth liners and tie-back strings.

    VAM FAMILY HW ST is a thread-ed and coupled connection de-signed for HP/HT applications. It is available on heavy wall pipes. A metal-to-metal seal system provides pressure integrity un-der high internal and external pressure. Tensile efciency equals 100%. Hooked thread with 3 reverse angle pre-vents jump out under tension or bending. The connection also is available with special clearance 7080% to meet with special HP/HT designs.

    VAM FAMILY VAM MUST is a heavy wall connection for ex-treme external pressures, as found in squeezing clay and salt domes.

    VAM FAMILY SLIJ II is an improved, second-generation version of the former VAM SLIJ connection. It is an integral cas-ing joint machined on plain-end non-upset pipe. The design combines a near-ush OD with high tensile efciencies and stronger structural integrity. The connection is ideal for produc-tion and intermediate casing, liner and tie-back applications in all types of wells. It has a unique combination of internal and ex-ternal metal-to-metal seals to prevent pressures from entering the connection.

    VAM FAMILY VAM TOP provides tubing performance in casing sizes. New steep taper, metal-to-metal seal design ensures gas-tight pressure integrity for large-OD tubing and produc-tion casing strings, even under severe mechanical and thermal combine loads. It is suitable for all types of materials (carbon and CRA) and ideal for horizontal or deviated wells.

    VAM FAMILY TOP FE Fatigue Enhanced threaded and coupled riser for offshore high pressure drilling and production applica-tions. Excellent fatigue perfor-mance combined with the prov-en design characteristics of VAM TOP, including the high-pressure metal-to-metal seal integrity. Fatigue improved thread and coupling designswooshre-sult in SAF of 2.5 or better over product line. The T&C design al-lows high collapse and/or sour service in high strength grades ideal for inner riser design.

    VAM FAMILY VAM TOP HT has the same design and perfor-mance as the VAM TOP, except for an enhanced torque shoul-der. This design is ideal for ap-plications where high torque is anticipated, such as rotation during cementing operations or tight running in deviated and horizontal wells.

    VAM FAMILY TOP HC (High Compression) is a T&C connec-tion based on the main features of the VAM TOP connection. This connection has been designed for various high-compression applications where it may be necessary to apply extreme compressive loads to the string (elevated temperature induc-ing compression, compaction, subsidence).
