FROM THE PASTOR’S DESK

4 WAYS TO IMITATE ST. JOSEPH ON DAILY BASIS Prayer for the year of St. Joseph

Father Louis Lalemant, having chosen St Joseph for

model of the interior life, practiced each day in his

honor the following exercises: two in the morning

and two in the evening.

1- LISTEN TO THE HOLY SPIRIT The first was

to raise his mind toward the heart of St. Joseph

and consider how docile he had been to the

inspirations of the Holy Spirit. Then examining his

own heart, he humbled himself for his times of

resistance, and animated himself to follow more

faithfully the inspirations of grace.

2- UNITY OF PRAYER AND WORK The second

was to consider with what perfection St.

Joseph united the interior life to the occupations

of his state in life. Then reflecting on his own life,

he examined if there were some defects to correct.

Father Lalemant attained by this holy practice to a

great union with God and he knew how to preserve it

in the midst of occupations which seemed the most

distracting.

3- DEVOTION TO THE VIRGIN MARY The

third was to unite himself spiritually to St. Joseph as

spouse of the Mother of God; and considering the

admirable lights which the saint had on the virginity

and maternity of Mary, he encouraged himself to

love this holy patriarch for the love of his holy

spouse.

4- ADORE THE CHRIST CHILD The fourth was

to represent to himself the profound adoration and

the paternal services which St. Joseph had rendered

to the Child Jesus: he asked to be permitted to join

with him in adoring, loving, and serving this

Divine Infant with the tenderest affection and the

profoundest veneration. (Philip Kosloski Aleteia.org)

As we celebrate the 150th anniversary of the declaration of

St. Joseph as patron of the Church, pope Francis has

proclaimed year 2021, “The Year of St Joseph”.

To you, O blessed Joseph, do we come in our

tribulation, and having implored the help of your

most holy Spouse, we confidently invoke your

patronage also.

Through that charity which bound you to the

Immaculate Virgin Mother of God and through the

paternal love with which you embraced the Child

Jesus, we humbly beg you graciously to regard the

inheritance which Jesus Christ has purchased by his

Blood, and with your power and strength to aid us in

our necessities.

O most watchful guardian of the Holy Family,

defend the chosen children of Jesus Christ;

O most loving father, ward off from us very

contagion of error and corrupting influence; O our

most mighty protector, be kind to us and from

heaven assist us in our struggle with the power of

darkness.

As once you rescued the Child Jesus from deadly

peril, so now protect God’s Holy Church from the

snares of the enemy and from all adversity; shield,

too, each one of us by your constant protection, so

that, supported by your example and your aid, we

may be able to live piously, to die in holiness, and to

obtain eternal happiness in heaven. Amen.

COUNCIL OF CATHOLIC WOMEN

Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit, that my thoughts may all be

holy. Act in me, O Holy Spirit, that my work, too, may be

holy. Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit, that I love but what is

holy. Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit, to defend all that is

holy. Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit, that I always may be

holy.– St. Augustine

Lay your cares about the future trustingly in God’s hands,

and let yourself be guided by the Lord just like a little

child.—St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross

Anxiety is the greatest evil that can befall a soul except

sin. God commands you to pray, but He forbids you to

worry.-St. Francis De Sales

Don’t spend your energies on things that generate worry,

anxiety, and anguish. Only one thing is necessary: Lift up

your spirit and love God.—St. Padre Pio

Nothing great is ever achieved without enduring much.

—St. Catherine de Siena

Who except God can give you peace? Has the world ever

been able to satisfy the heart? - St. Gerard Majella

The secret to happiness is to live moment by moment and

thank God for what He is sending us every day in His

goodness.—St. Gianna Molla

If God sends you many sufferings it is a sign that He has

great plans for you, ans certainly wants to make you a

saint.—St Ignatius of Loyola
