Dear Parishioners,

Today we celebrate the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ,

King of the Universe! Jesus reveals His Kingship over all, not by

saving Himself, but by saving us. Thank You, Jesus! We worship

Jesus, not only by our words, but also in our deeds of mercy.

This is the Kingdom of His Divine Will: self-giving love and the

total forgiveness of sins. Now that is something for which to be

thankful.

Sometimes our life experience is much like the Holy Gospel

today, hanging on the cross between a good thief and a bad one

with others jeering at us with a world full of hurt. Now we have

the proof of the pudding. When struggles come along, how do I

deal with them? Do I intimately unite my sufferings with Jesus?

Do I offer my sufferings to the Father in acceptance of His Will?

Do I show mercy to those who reject me? Am I thankful to Jesus

Christ, King of the Universe, for sharing in His Cross? If so,

then we shall share in the crown of His Eternal Glory!

Happy Thanksgiving,

Fr. Gabriel

The Advice of a Mother & The King of the Universe!

(Sunday, Nov. 20, Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe)

(Monday, Nov. 21, The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary)

Ever since I was a little kid, I have loved attempting to do things on my own!

From time to time this has turned out well, on some other occasions it has

allowed me to get by, but more often than not it has gotten me into all kinds of

trouble. The funny thing is though, that no matter how many times this

strategy has yielded poor results, I just kept on going back to it again and again.

Usually, there is one thing that finally got me to snap out of this cycle and to

do what was actually best for me: listening to the advice of my Mother, and

Mother always knows best! In some cases, Dad was the go to, especially if I

thought I might get my way a little easier!

This same reality is even truer when it comes to living out our spiritual lives.

I can try on my own to figure things out, but when it’s all said and done, the

goodness of God’s plan is just way too big for my finite and limited mind to

fully understand or grasp. But this doesn’t mean that any of us are without

hope, because we all have Our Lord, and a Mother that we can turn to in the

midst of our struggles. Jesus and Mary long to help us! Yes, they do! It’s that

easy, we just have to turn to them and ask! Mary, through her intercession and

by her example. If we want a guaranteed way to discover God’s Will for us, all

we need to do is to pray to Jesus, and we can ask Mary for her intercession and

to pray according to her example: “Be it done unto me according to thy Word”

and “do whatever He tells you!” +JMJ+
