• Moved the capital of the Roman Empire to a former Greek trading city known as Byzantium.
• Renamed Byzantium after himself: Constantinople.
3. Constantinople• The capital of the Byzantine
Empire, named for Emperor Constantine. Location was perfect for trade
Once upon a time, there was a quiet village called “Byzantium”
Emperor Constantine liked it, so he decided to move the capital of Rome here
After some sprucing up, it was renamed Constantinople (because only the best emperors get stuff named after them)
This place is much better than Rome!
