McMahon passed for 337 yards and three touchdowns. The Cougars visited Madison again in 2013. Despite over 250 yards of total offense from Taysom Hill, the Badger run game was stronger with James White and Melvin Gordon combining for over 230 rushing yards, leading Wisconsin to a 27-17 win. WHITEOUT. BYU will be wearing its white uniforms against the Badgers in a "Whiteout." Last year's "Whiteout" game was against Toledo. BYU won 55-53 in a back-and-forth thriller. ALMA MATER COACHES. Both head coaches in the matchup are coaching at their respective alma mater. Paul Chryst played quarterback for the Badgers from 1986-88 while Kalani Sitake was a fullback at BYU in 1994, 97-2000. Chryst and Sitake are among 21 FBS head coaches coaching at their alma mater. BADGERS GO WEST. BYU hosted Penn State in Provo in 1992, however, the Nittany Lions were competing as an independent at the time. This will be the first time an official member of the Big Ten comes to LaVell Edwards Stadium. BYU vs. RANKED TEAMS. Wisconsin is ranked No. 10 in the AP Poll and No. 12 in the Coaches Poll. A win over the Badgers would give BYU its first win over a ranked team since a 35-24 win over No. 20 Boise State in Provo on Sept. 12, 2015. The Cougars have gone 3-7 in their last 10 outings against ranked teams. TOP 10 OPPONENT. With the Badgers ranked No. 10 in the AP Poll, BYU has its fourth opportunity to defeat a top 10 opponent since beating No. 3 Oklahoma in 2009. BYU fell to No. 10 Oregon State and No. 5 Notre Dame in 2012 and No. 10 UCLA in 2015. It is also the first time since 2012 (Oregon State) that a top 10 team will visit Provo. HONORING LAVELL. Legendary hall of famer and beloved head coach at BYU for 29 seasons, LaVell Edwards, passed away on Dec. 29, 2016. The always steady and humble coach will be honored in several ways throughout the season, including the team wearing a uniform patch featuring his classic stoic profile he displayed for decades on the Cougar sidelines.

TOUCHDOWN TAYLOR: FRESHMAN RUSHES FOR 223 YARDS, THREE TDsWisconsin flies past Florida Atlantic, 31-14 MADISON, Wis. -- Freshman Jonathan Taylor ran for 223 yards and three touchdowns, Alex Hornibrook threw for 201 yards and a score, and No. 9 Wisconsin football pulled away from Florida Atlantic for a 31-14 win on Saturday.

The bigger Badgers (2-0) wore down the Owls (0-2) despite some middling play in the middle of the game. Wisconsin opened up a 14-0 lead behind two first-quarter touchdowns from Taylor, but didn't have the game in hand until his third score with 1:12 left in the third quarter made it a 17-point game.

Taylor was stopped on fourth-and-inches at the 1 on one drive in the second quarter. Hornibrook was intercepted in Wisconsin territory on another series, and five plays later Florida Atlantic's Devin Singletary scored from 1 yard out to make it 21-14 with 4:29 left in the period.

Wisconsin started getting more pressure in the second half with three sacks. The Badgers held decisive edges after halftime in total yards (206-50) and first downs (13-2).

It bookended a dominating first quarter by Taylor, who showed a mix of power and speed that could make him the next star running back at Wisconsin.

Taylor ran for scores from 64 and 29 yards in the period, the latter coming after breaking three tackles around left end before jogging into the end zone, becoming the fourth true freshman Badger to rush for 200 yards, joining Alan Ameche ('51), Ron Dayne ('96) and Zach Brown ('07).

MISSIONSBrigham Young University is owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The missionary emphasis of the Church is perhaps one of its most recognized characteristics.

Since the organization of the Church in 1830, over one million missionaries have served. The Church operates missions around the world in 150 nations speaking more than 160 languages. More than 70,000 missionaries representing the Church are serving prose-lytizing missions in 422 missions around the world. Most of the Church’s proselytizing missionaries are young men between the ages of 18 and 26. A substantial number of young women and older couples also serve proselytizing missions. Missionaries work long hours — seven days a week for two years (or 18 months for women and couples) — teaching the Gospel of Jesus Christ and participating in community service.

About 64 percent of the current team has served an LDS mission. Members of the team have served in 28 different countries and six of the seven continents around the globe. BYU currently has about 30 members of the team (previous signees or on roster) that are currently serving in the mission field.

HONOR CODEBYU’s Honor Code helps maintain this learning environment. Initiated by students in 1949, the Honor Code emphasizes being honest, living a chaste and virtuous life, abstaining from alcohol and tobacco, using clean language, and following other values in line with the doctrines of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

The Cougar defense allowed Utah to convert on just 3 of 14 third-down attempts. Fred Warner and Corbin Kaufusi forced fumbles, and Fred Warner and Troy Warner had fumble recoveries.

BYU got the ball with a chance to win the game down by six points and 1:34 left in the game, but turned the ball over on downs before the Utes ran the clock out.

Utah opened the scoring with a 21-yard field goal. The Utes returned an interception to the BYU 9-yard line before settling for a 3-0 lead nine minutes into the first quarter.

With 9:36 left in the first half, Rhett Almond missed a 28-yard Cougar field goal to the left.

Primed by a 48-yard pass play, Utah made its second field goal, this time from 25 yards out, to lead 6-0 with 6:02 on the second quarter clock.

The Utes hit their third field goal as the first half clock ran out for a 9-0 lead heading into the break.

Following another Utah interception, the Utes scored the game's first touchdown early in the third quarter. Quarterback Tyler Huntley ran five yards to cross the goal line and put Utah up 16-0.

Tolutau gave BYU a touchdown with 9:47 on the third quarter clock. After Fred Warner recovered a fumble on the Utah 22-yard line, Tolutau had four rushes for 22 yards on the drive. The Cougars failed on a two-point conversion attempt to trail 16-6.

The Utes' fourth field goal, a 38-yarder, came with 2:35 left in the third quarter and put Utah up 19-6.

Mangum led BYU on an 11-play, 76-yard touchdown drive late in the fourth quarter. He found Dye in the endzone for a seven-yard touchdown pass with 2:38 on the clock to cut the Cougar deficit to 19-13.

THE BYU OFFENSE• YEAR TWO OF TY. Ty Detmer is into his second season directing BYU's offense. Year one relied heavily on a star

running back in Jamaal Williams and an experienced, dual-threat quarterback in Taysom Hill as players learned a new scheme. The offense is still looking to take another step forward in 2017.

• YOUNG GUNS. After graduating several playmakers in 2016, a new crop of youngsters will look to make an impact in 2017. As many as 17 underclassmen will see time as part of the two-deep on the offensive side of the ball, including six true freshman. BYU's first touchdown of the year was scored by freshman Neil Pau'u while freshman tight end Matt Bushman leads BYU in receiving yards with 13 receptions and 149 yards.

• REDSHIRTS COMING OFF. Several talented players redshirted the 2016 season, including some that saw time in 2015 as true freshmen. Receivers Akile Davis and Micah Simon return after seeing time in 2015, as does running back Trey Dye. A talented group of offensive linemen who spent the 2016 season returning to shape after LDS missions include Kieffer Longson, Austin Chambers and Chandon Herring. All of them are expected to contribute in 2017 and most of them saw their first game action against Portland State in game one.

Kalani Sitake (pronounced kah-lah-nee see-tah-kay) was named head coach overseeing the BYU football program on December 19, 2015, by director of athletics Tom Holmoe.

Sitake is the 14th head coach in BYU history. He comes to BYU from Oregon State, where he served as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator.

A former Cougar running back (1994, 1997-2000), Sitake returns to his alma mater with 15 years of coaching experience, including seven years a defensive coordinator and four seasons as an assistant head coach.

Prior to serving as assistant head coach and defensive coordi-nator at Oregon State in 2015, Sitake spent 10 seasons at the University of Utah. He started at Utah in 2005 as the linebackers coach and was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2009 before also being named assistant head coach in 2012.

Sitake has coached several Pac-12 and Mountain West Confer-ence honorees, including Morris Trophy winners Star Lotulelei (2011) and Nate Orchard (2014). He also helped mentor 14 NFL Draft picks during his time at Utah, including 12 all-league players and three freshmen All-Americans. He helped the Utes win seven of eight bowl games during his tenure.

Sitake began his coaching career in 2001 as the defensive backs and special teams coach at Eastern Arizona before becoming a defensive graduate assistant at BYU in 2002. Sitake then joined the staff at Southern Utah where he coached running backs, tight ends and offensive line during the 2003 and 2004 seasons.

Born in Nuku’alofa, Tonga, and raised in Laie, Hawai’i and Provo, Utah, Sitake becomes the first FBS head football coach of Tongan descent. He is the 14th head coach in BYU history, and just the fourth since 1972, when Hall of Fame coach LaVell Edwards took over the program.

Sitake began his BYU playing career in 1994 prior to serving a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints to Oakland, California. After returning and redshirting in 1997, Sitake was a three-year starter at fullback for the Cou-gars from 1998-2000 under Edwards.

He was named BYU’s Football Scholar Athlete of the Year in 1998, Impact Player of the Year in 1999, along with team captain and the most valuable running back in 2000. He signed a free agent contract with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2001, but was forced to retire due to an injury.

Sitake graduated from BYU in 2000 with a bachelor’s degree in English. He and his wife Timberly have three children, Skye, Sadie and Kelaokalani (KK).
