DESCRIPTION
As schools prepare for common core assessment implementation, they must also address the need to include BYOD in their plans. Though BYOD might not be used for the assessment, it does provide significant benefits to schools for differentiation and individualization of content directed to each child’s need as indicated by the assessment. It is important that every school technology leader knows how BYOD can enhance the teaching/learning process and provide resource strapped schools with much needed tools. Data management is becoming more important as it is used to measure student growth. Identify what the technology department is doing and how it ties into the classroom. Establish a strategic partnership between curriculum and technology in your school district. Meet regularly, set objectives that are measurable and ensure that all stakeholders are aware of your plans.
Allow curriculum leaders to provide input on the technology budget
for learning resources. Set metrics to determine the relative impact of purchases so that future procurements will have the desired impact.
