Types Of Zoos

Accredited Zoos Accredited zoo is a

zoo that is open to the public and have standards to be a accredited zoo. They do not care about the money as much as they care about the future of the animal. They treat animals properly. When you go in accredited zoo you see animals in enclosures not cages.

Backyard Zoo Backyard zoos are

open to the public. They do not care about animals as much as they do they care about money. They do not treat animals properly because they put them in cages not enclousers.

Petting Zoo Petting zoos are

open to the public. At a petting zoo you are allowed to touch the animal the petting zoo. They treat animals properly because they are not in cages.

Safari Safaris are open to the

public. They care about the future of the animal and do not care about the money. They have bigger enclosures than accredited zoos. They treat animals properly. When you go to a safari you see animals in huge enclosures.

Private Zoos

Private zoos are not open to the public. They have higher standards then accredited zoos. They treat animals properly.

What Zoo’s Do to Animals

Endangered Animals Zoos take animals

that are endangered animals till the number of that species goes up. SSP is a breeding program with endangered animals . Zoos protect endangered animals so that they will not become extinct. Red pandas , tigers , and snow leopards are endangered animals.

Habitats Zoos make enclosures look

like the animals natural habitat. If natural habitat of the animal gets destroyed they go to the zoo. If there was no zoos animals would get killed by going on the road because they have no where to go. Zoos now make enclosures look like the animals natural habitat instead of cement cages. About 1,000,000 animals lose their natural habitat.

Food Zookeepers and

veterinarians give animals the right food because if they eat different food that they are not used to they might get sick. Zoos that are nice to animals give a balanced diet and medicines that are needed. Zookeepers are taught what foods are supposed to be feed to each animal.
