Community Service• Throughout my life I have been performing many different

services to the community. Since I was younger it has always given me a good feeling inside whenever I help those that are less fortunate than me or when I just help the community in general. One of the main service that I have been doing ever since I was a kid, was helping to layout pumpkins at my church for our annual Halloween pumpkin patch.

Last Semester• Last semester I performed many different types of community

services. Such as helping to seal envelopes at the food bank, which was loads of fun. Then I also helped the community by donating boxes filled with gifts for the less fortunate because some of the children if otherwise would not of had such a good Christmas.

This Semester• However, this semester my main community service act was focused

on one of the greatest and most well known events Relay for Life. Which can be found at http://www.relayforlife.com/docroot/home/index.asp. This year Relay For Life was held in the front lawn. Relay For Life is the signature fund-raising event of the American Cancer Society. It is an overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of the American Cancer Society. On the front lawn they had a stage where a band was playing for most of the night and many other different events happing all throughout the night.

Relay For Life

• The events started from 7:00 at night and lasted until 7:00 the next morning. FYE was running a tidied booth. Where you would pay five dollars to color a Washcloth as many different colors as you wanted. However, not only did we sell wash cloths, but we also sold towels. The Towels cost $5.00 and the Washcloths where $3.00.

That Night• There at Relay For Life the

FYE tent sold a lot of towels and washcloths for the Cancer society. At the end of the night the FYE tent had a fair amount of money that was going to be donated to helped for the research and to find a cure for cancer.

Events of The Evening

• There at Relay For Life on the front lawn they had many different events going on all night near the stage. The main attraction of that evening was when all of the guys dressed up in girl clothes for a beauty pageant. Each tent had a representative. For FYE it was Sebastien. Man he looks good…let me get them digits.

Is It A Man or A Woman • Seeing all of the guys

dressed up as women was definitely the high point of the evening. Each guy had to get up on stage and talk about there favorite hobbies and then each of them had to perform some sort of a talent on stage. Each guy performed something different, but I think the ribbon dancing was my favorite.

Who Won

• However, sadly CBass did not win instead he got Ms. Congeniality and won second place. I think he got Ms. Congeniality cause I would not stop yelling for him even after it was all over. The winner of the Ms. Man competition was some guy that went by the name of Red Hot Chili Pepper.

After the Male Pageant

• After the male pageant was over there where many other things to do. Such as walking the track and visiting other to tents to see what they had to offer at Relay For Life. At one of the tents they had a game called Guitar Hero where me and Emily played for a while.

Learn To Salsa• After visiting many of the

other tents we went back to the stage, where they had salsa dancing lessons. So CBass and I decided that we would learn how. However, we where not very good at it, but we still did it any way.

What I learned

• I learned that community service can help out so many different people and can also be fun at the same time. Whoever, said that doing community service was boring was wrong because every time that I was working or doing community service I always had a great time whether it was at the food bank or at Relay For Life I was always having a great time.

• Next year I plan on going back to Relay For Life because it was so much fun.
