identity politics to meditate and comment on the complexity of Puerto Rico’s racial and

Caribbean kinship, island geography, and colonial identity, giving the audience a considerate

and embedded view into discursive and artistic manifestations in and outside Puerto Rico.

exploring the role libraries play in the creative process, announces its third annual Little

Indie Press Festival. Th e event will feature many manifestations of independent publishing,

including indie literature, comics, zines, and book arts. Th e festival seeks to bring together

all manner of publishers under one roof to celebrate the spirit of independent publishing,

including a publisher’s showcase, word games, readings, zine making, and more.

hosted by the Illustration Student Group (ISG), and is essentially a farmers market but for

illustrators, and take a look at how tabling at cons functions in the illustration world.

representing Columbia artists.” Since opening in fall 2008, ShopColumbia has represented

over 1,200 artists and generated over $350,000 of revenue for Shop artists. Th e

anniversary celebration includes a reunion of ShopColumbia artists and reception for the

Spotlight Exhibition: Th en and Now. Th e exhibition features WAC alumni artists: Andrea Dunn

’16, Sam Kirk ’05, and JJ McLuckie ’17. Additional activities include: Club DJ, a photobooth,

refreshments, and special promotions.

ROVE7:30–9 p.m.Meet in front of ShopColumbiaNew media and installation artist Mat Rappaport will use a delivery truck mounted with

multiple external cameras to capture images of the South Loop neighborhood. Sitting in the

passenger seat of the truck, the artist will “remix” the environment in real time, performing

a moving intervention into architectural space. Th us, Mat Rappaport’s eff ort to shape the

experience of urban environments through media-based interventions continues. Members

of the community are invited to ride along and have their image mixed into the video.
