PERCEPTION
Perception is the cognitive process involving selecting, organizing, and
interpreting or attaching meaning to the events happening in the environment.
Perception differs from person to person.
FEATURES OF PERCEPTION
Perception is an intellectual process.Perception is one of the basic cognitive or
psychological behavior.Perception differs from person to person based
on their psychological and intellectual process. Perception assigns meaning to sensory events.After picking up sensory information,
perception involves the creation of a mental representation of the object or event that gives rise to sensory experience.
NON-VERBAL COMMUNICATION
Non Verbal Communication is usually understood as the process of communication
through sending and receiving world less messages.
Such messages are communicated through gestures, body-language, facial-expression,
eye-contact, posture, etc.These are the signals to which meaning can be
attributed.
1. EYE CONTACT
Eyes are expressive in nature.Ancient poets have described eyes as
“windows to the soul.”Honest person has a tendency to look you
straight in the eye while speaking. People avoid eye contact with other person
when an uncomfortable question asked.The raising of one eyebrow shows disbelief
and two shows surprise.
2. FACIAL EXPRESSION
Facial Expression is also one of the reliable indicators of a person’s attitudes,
emotions & feelings
3. BODY LANGUAGE
Body language refers to that form of non-verbal communication, wherein a person reveals clues as to some unspoken intention or feeling through their physical behavior.
Body language is all about how one carries oneself.Body Language includes-body postures, gestures,
facial expressions, eye movement, etcBody postures-standing, sitting, lying, dance
positionsGestures- movement of hands, face or oother parts
of the body
4. BODY MOVEMENT
Body movement is the movement of body parts accompanied with movement of muscles i.e. either contraction or expansion.
Parts of the body are actually in motion.If there is no movement of muscles there
is no body movement.Example-raising of hand, walking,
dancing, etc
CONCLUSION
Perception is how we select, organize,
interpret and attach meaning to the events.AND
Non-Verbal Communication are wordless communication
