DESCRIPTION

Who our ideas are aimed at We aimed our ideas at young people, middle-aged people and elderly people. We had an idea of what they would like because we asked our parents, grandparents and siblings. We asked them two questions- What would you like/expect to see or do at the war museum for Remembrance day? After reading our ideas, what do you like about them and how could we improve them?

By Nancy Evans, Rebecca Lees, Georgia Hilton, Chloe Goddard and Caitlin Laing What we did We brainstormed our ideas and eliminated the ones that we didnt think would be easily achievable, due to cost or space so that we only had a few main ideas to focus on. Feedback We were told that our ideas were very good and that there wasnt much to improve upon, however the people we asked suggested some more ideas which we could use. Main Idea 1 Our first idea is to stick red and white poppies on a big display board to spell REMEMBER, and then we would ask primary schools around Manchester to draw and colour the poppies, and then they may come and see the work that they have done and learn more about remembrance. Main Idea 2 To raise money for a charity, we could let children and adults dress up like soldiers or wartime people and have a picture taken. The cost of the photo would be decided by you and we would then donate the proceeds to a soldier charity e.g. Help for Heroes or the money could go directly to the museum This is a good idea because it would remind them of their visit and they would be able to see what it would be like to carry a heavy backpack around all day and they would feel sympathy for the soldiers Main Idea 3 We would get the younger visitors to dress up in wartime clothing so that they can learn whilst having fun, and notice the difference in how people dressed in the 1930s compared to how we dress today. We thought this would be good because the children wont realise that they are learning at the same time as having fun. Main Idea 4 We would have laminated medals stuck on the floor - 1 for every 1000 soldiers who died in the first 30 minutes of the Somme, which would require 56 laminated medals - so that people would realise how many soldiers actually died and gave their lives for us. We would have this placed in a line, like footsteps, and at the end of the line there would be a board explaining what it is about. Thank you for listening Please dont hesitate if you have any questions
