The children were talking among themselves about holidays. Margaret (playleader) decided to follow their interest by supporting them to develop their play. She asks what will we need to go on holidays C - Bags, clothes, passport, toys drinks E said - no you can’t the man at the airport would not let you take a drink into the airport. C – says we will have to wait until we get on the plane to buy drinks. C – Books T- Suncream A – Telephone a taxi E – Tickets C – Money ,Tag for the suitcase F – Tissues A- Handbag E - Phone
Margaret asks where would we go A – Is going to Lisbon L - France F – Lanzarote E - Austria C – Is going to England to Nanny Ci Ci T - Spain E - Spain L - is going to America with Margaret P – is going to Lanzarote E - France
Everyone makes their own passport
The children make tickets, talking about dates and times of flights (numeracy) build an aeroplane with the chairs and play going on holidays. After the play Fiona and Christopher drew an aeroplane, lovely sunshine, and traffic lights.
Some of the children talk about their holiday experiences Tom “We went to Spain it was really sunny, there was no houses, just apartments. The apartments were really big up to God. Me, Mammy, Daddy, Catherine, and Nana went. Nana always comes”
Eimear “ We went to Austria in real life before, a long time ago. It was lashing and we got ourselves all wet” I drew a twin bed cos there was a twin bed and we slept beside our Mammy. Baby was in Mammy’s tummy. Didn’t I have a lot of news about Austria I will go back but I hope it won’t be lashing rain.”
Ally “I went to Granny’s place on holidays. It’s in Ireland near the bridge. I was there when I was a baby”
