Any substance that is harmful to the body when ingested, inhaled, injected, or absorbed through the skin.

Any substance can be poisonous is enough is taken

The American Association of Poison Control Centers recommends teaching students that poisonings can occur by:Eating (Pills they mistake for candy)Drinking (Bleach)Touching (Cyanide)Inhaling (Ammonia)

Statistics

United States45% of poison exposures involved children

younger than six, but the most serious cases occurred in adolescents and adults

56% of poison exposures involved medications; other exposures were to household or automotive products, plants, mushrooms, pesticides, animal bites, and stings.
