Looking at text features will help you know what is most important in an article and help you locate information quickly.

TITLE of PUBLICATION It tells the name of the magazine, newspaper, etc.

TITLE OF MAIN ARTICLE Tells what it's about and sets the tone.

HEADINGS They organize and indicate information within the chapter.

BULLETS AND BOLD PRINT This makes key information stand out.

MAPS, DIAGRAMS, CHARTS, GRAPHS They summarize and present text information in a clear, concise way that is easy

to see at a glance. CAPTIONED PHOTOGRAPHS

They provide appealing visualizations and descriptions. The captions tell who, what, when, and where

SIDEBARS These offer interesting and supportive information along the side or bottom.

Some of you will have a definition. Some of you will have a textual feature. Find your match.
