The Start• Risen from the ending of the former band

“Basic Enigma” in February of 1996

• Upon hearing Fear Factory’s “Demanufacture”, the band mates regrouped but recruited new bassist, Robert Garcia.

• Soon after forming, the band befriended Fear Factory guitarist, Dino Cazares.

Record Label• Upon hearing Spineshank’s demo, Dino

offered to be Fear Factory’s opener, in Whiskey A-Go-Go in Los Angeles.

• This led to other openers for Coal Chamber, Snot, Soulfly, Sepultura and Danzig.

• In result several record labels offered deals, but Spineshank finalized with Roadrunner Records.

Albums Lead to Tours

• With the release of Strictly Diesel, S.S. joined Fear Factory and Kilgore on a European tour.

• In support of The Height of Callousness S.S. was featured in Ozzfest 2001, and toured with Disturbed, Hed PE, Orgy, and Mudvayne.

• Shortly after Self-Destructive Pattern was released S.S. went on another European tour with Ill Nino and Chimaira

Troubles With Santos

• In January 2004, it was reported that Johnny Santos (the singer) had officially left Spineshank.

• Tommy Decker, drummer, said it was amicable and it was from musical differences, but the band would continue.

• Soon the band began a search and found singer Brandon Espinoza.

• Four years later however the band split because of bad chemistry.

Silent Civilian

• Jonny Santos in the mean time, drifted from couch to couch and was considered homeless, but sang for local bands.

• In January 2005, it was announced that Santos' began a new band dubbed Silent Civilian.

• After switching between record companies Silent Civilian released their first album labeled Rebirth of the Temple on May 2, 2006

Santos’ Return

In 2008, Spineshank reunited with Santos, and in August of that year recorded a demo.

In September ‘08 they announced the start of a new record.

So far They posted a demo version of "Born Conform Repent", one of five songs completed, on their MySpace page.

Other new songtitles include "I Am Damage", "Anger Denial Acceptance" and "The Reckoning“, but these songs aren’t finals.

Santos’ Return

In 2009 toured with Disturbed as part of the Music as a Weapon tour in 2009.
