TransformationHistorically founded as a socialist party.

Appeared from the trade union movement and from the socialist political parties of the 19th century. It describes itself as a party of democratic socialism.

However, the party embraced certain aspects of free market enterprise and colonialism.1997 Election won control of government and began embracing Third Way aspects.

Third Way:• Reconciliation between capitalism and socialism following the Cold Way Era

•Rejection of fiscal conservatism and pure laissez faire ideals
