GESTURES IN GROUPS
RELATED GESTURES CONFLICTING GESTURES
Related Gestures
Group of gestures expressing the same things or similar related things or attitudes:
Example: Your daughter sits down clenches fists
crosses arms and feet, “I can’t clean my room right now as I promised Ayesha that I’ll help her with her assignment.”
CONFLICTING GESTURES
CONFLICT B/W GESTURES & WORDSNervous laugh: Nervous Arms & hand movement
& then the whole body shifts & maybe he or she hides her hands in the pockets at the end
CONFLICTS B/W GESTURESAshraf is ready to deliver a speech sitting with
hands behind his head & legs crossed, leaning the chair back against the wall. When the stage secretary asks him, “Are you ready?” He stands up with his hands on sides of his hips & feet apart, “Sure anytime.” Then he lightly rubs his nose.
Find related & Conflicting Gestures
Refrigerator salesman smiled at me, “Of course you’ll get delivery on Sunday.” He opens his feet, palms up & shrugged his shoulders & then he buttoned his jacket.
“Can we get it written on the bill as a part of the Sale?”, I asked. “Sure, anything you want sir.” Crosses his arms on the chest now his hands were clenched. “The customer is always right, Is not it right?” , He said & then laughed loudly & twisted his body & then put his hands in his pockets. Looked at me sideways,” Don’t you worry about a thing sir.” He assured me & then he turned his back on me.
