Shelters

Stone age shelters usually had a cone shaped roof.The rooves were built with straw but sticks were used for the frame.Inside the houses the bed on the right was bigger than the bed on the left.Likely the fire in the house would be lit at all times.The most important piece of furniture was a stone dresser and they usually put them against the wall facing the entrance.The fire was in the centre so that all of the house was warm.All of the houses were the same.

Timeline stone age: Palaeolithic - 3,000,000 BC Mesolithic - 10,000 BC Neolithic – 4,500 BC – 2,400 BC Bronze Age:2,500 BC – 800 BC

Iron Age: 800 BC – AD 43

One way to catch birds was to put sticky lime on a branches of a tree and then wait until the birds get stuck and then they go and pick them.

They were very careful because if the wasn’t then the birds would fly away from you.Men in the stone age went out hunting for food while the women and childrenGathered plants.Meat and birds were the main source of the stone age diet.Fish could be quite difficult to cook ,so they were baked in wet clay.If fish get to hot , their meat is easily charred.An effective method that prevented this was to cover the fish entirely in wet clay , then they placed it on hot fire.After some time , the clay would be baked and fish also.The clay covering would be broken and thefish was ready to eat.The invention of pottery allowed foods to beCooked more easily.Farming changed the diet of humans radically.People settling don in one place were able todevelop new , heavy implements for cooking.

Art

Cave-paintings were found very far into the cave and they had to use a torch so that they could see What they are doing. These were done with animal blood.The cave paintings taken a lot of skill and effort.They were painted in places of special importance.The stone age art was in the form of ancient cave carvings, music and rock paintings.

Animals

Woolly mammoths were probably the largest Animals existing at that time.Sometimes people hunted woolly mammothsBut they went in groups because they are very strong.
