Step 1

To start assembling place all of your

2.5” & 2” squares wrong side up so

you can mark diagonal lines. If you

can sew without them you can skip

this step.

I have found that putting this block out before sewing made this less confusing and a lot

easier to see what was going on.

Step 2

Lay out your pieces as seen in the

photo

Place the Fabric 1 4.5” square in the

center

Using the 2.5” x 4.5” from Fabric 3 &

Fabric 4, arrange around the center,

alternating colors

Step 3

Using the 2” Fabric 2 squares, arrange

them next to the center with the lines

pointing towards the center.

Pin the Fabric 2 squares to the Fabric

3 and 4 pieces. Pin, sew, and trim as

shown in the bottom picture.

Step 4

Repeat the same process as in Step 3

with the 2.5” Fabric 1 background

color. Make sure the points are the

exact same pointing towards the

center.

(Please note, in this picture the section on the far-left side is turned incorrectly.)

Step 5

Take the strips and sew them together

as shown in photo.

You will have a total of 4 units that

look like this.

To start assembling the corners:

Step 6

Arrange the following as shown in the top left

photo:

Fabric 1 - 3” square

Fabric 3 - 2” x 4.5”

Fabric 4 - 2” x 3”

You will want to arrange each of these

corner units in place next to your

center/middle units from step 5.

Arrange the eight 2” squares from

Fabric 1 for the corners as shown in

photo.

Make sure all are sewn in the correct

direction to make the ribbon

Step 7

Assembling your quilt block.

Sew from left to right starting at the top. When ironing the blocks, iron one to the left and

for next row iron to the right. This will make it easier to get your seams to match up. Once

complete, sew the rows together. You have now finished a Ribbon Star Block.
