  • By: Bobby Thao Distributive Property, Order of Operations Math production How to Solve 2 Step-Equations
  • Slide 2
  • 2 Step-Equations When you do a 2 step-equation there is either Addition, or Subtraction in the first step so youll have to add or subtract. Then when you get your answer, you divide your answer to the number thats left in the equation, then you get your answer so it would look like this. 9-6=15 (You add instead of subtract, add to both sides) +6 +6 9 = 21 9 9 (Divide 9 to both sides) x = 2.333
  • Slide 3
  • 2 Step-Equation #2 Since you added the last one they can mix up signs (instead of adding you subtract) So it would look like this. Ex: 8+5=17 (Subtract 5 to both sides) -5 -5 8 12 8 8 x = 1.5
  • Slide 4
  • Distributive Property When you are doing distributive property you will have a number outside the parentheses and you will have to multiply them by the number. So when you get rid of the parentheses everything else is easier. Ex:2(3x+4) 6x+12 6 6 x = 2
  • Slide 5
  • Distributive Property #2 Another thing to remember is that there can also be subtraction to instead of addition, And the answer can also be a negative. 5(4x-9) 20x-4 20 20 x = -0.2
  • Slide 6
  • Order Of Operations When you are doing Order of operations you have to remember theres many ways you can solve the equation but the easiest clue I can give you is P.E.M.D.A.S to help you break the equation down into parts. Ex: 2x4=(20+14) 2 34 2 2x4(17) 8x17 136
  • Slide 7
  • Order Of Operations #2 Before you do P.E.M.D.A.S you have to make sure you do them in order from left to right. Because if you dont youll get the wrong answer and then everything will be wrong. Ex:5x6(3-7)=25 30-4=25 +4 +4 30 29 30 30 x= 0.966 (So thats why you do it from left to right because if you dont youll get the whole thing wrong)
