Swim Team By Anna Ciccarelli The swimmers on the RCHS swim team have been hitting the water, practicing even over Christ- mas Break. They have an upcoming meet on Tues- day, January 10th. Good luck on this competition and keep working hard. The season is almost over, with regionals just around the corner on February 10th and 11th. Coy Comer, who will be graduating in May, is very proud of the team. He has this to say to the underclassmen, “I’m going to miss my fellow swimmers. So swim fast and enjoy the years to come.” Snow Days and Flexible PD Days By: Kristina Burton If you’ve taken a glance at the spring calendar, you may have noticed that there are a few dates that are labeled “FLEXIBLE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT”. Many students have come to assume that this automatically means they’ll be getting out of school on these dates. However, this is not the case. These flexible PD days have been built into the schedule in expectation of snow days. This means that if we happen to miss school due to snowy weather, students would have to attend school on these PD days to make up for it. Yet, if we continue to go through the semester and not miss days for snow, students will get these PD days off instead. Although it may seem like a confusing concept, it’s all a wise decision meant to keep us from ending the year at a much later date. Girls Basketball By: Anna Ciccarelli and Bethany Crabtree The Lady Lakers have traveled for games twice here recent- ly. The first was over Christmas Break. They traveled to Union County, Tennessee. Here they had three games, two of which they won. The first match was a win against Gibbs. The second, against Claiborne, was lost by two on a last second shot. The final game in Union County was a win against Knoxville. LeeAnn Grider has this to say about the trip, “The trip was a good bond- ing experience for the team. It gave us an opportunit6y to play ball, but have some fun too.” Madison Loy also has an input on this, “Although, we had a lot of fun, we also got better as a team. It allowed us to get more experience against teams we’ve never played or even heard of before.” The second travel for a match was last Monday night, 01/02/12, to Campbellsville. The girls held them to only 26 points in the entire game. The final tally came out to be 66-26. “It was the best defense we have had all season and it is a good way to start the New Year.” statesAmanda Cooper. Great job Lady Lak- ers! Keep up the good work!

will fill this out during the school day and parents will come that afternoon at 5:00 p.m. to finish the appli-cation. This meeting will be in the cafeteria. This is the financial aid application that ALL schools in the na-tion require. It is called the FAFSA. It is free. This is the ONLY form necessary to receive any type of fed-eral or state money. Any other financial aid offers received in the mail should be checked out thoroughly before sending any money. Many of these are scams and should be thrown in the trash. You will receive a letter in the mail explaining everything you will need to complete this form. It will be mailed from Lindsey Wilson College, so do not throw it away. The lady doing our workshop is from Lindsey and has 19 years of experience. It does not matter what school you attend, you will fill out the same form. If you have questions, please let Angela Emerson know.

Financial Aid Workshop

Financial Aid applications will be available to students in January. We won’t receive them in our office until after Christmas. We will have a financial aid workshop on January 11th at which time we will have someone here to go step-by-step on how to fill out the form. Students
