The Ottawa TribeBy: Anita and Petra
FoodThe Ottawa tribe ate moose, rabbit, beaver and
wolverine. They used spears and bows for hunting. Sometimes, they would dress up like the animal they were hunting!
CultureThe Ottawa’s culture was based around trading.
The French Settlers were friends with the Ottawa tribe because the Ottawa traded mostly to them. One time in 1685, the Ottawa provided two-thirds of the fur to the French in Montreal, Canada.

ShelterThe Ottawa tribe built their houses with
wigwams. First they would draw a circle on the ground. Then they would stick poles in the ground around two feet apart. The poles would be arched and tied to the opposite pole. Then they would add the wigwams bark.
ClothesThe Ottawa tribe wore deer skin and rabbit fur.
For their shoes, they would make them out of deer skin and if they were lucky, the insides would be covered in moose fur. The furs and skins helped them survive.
