The Weapons of Our Warfare Part 1

SPIRITUAL WARFARE SERIES

“Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12)

• In this lesson we are going continue our series on Spiritual Warfare. Tonight we will be discussing our weaponry. We will learn about the following: – About our Weapons

CLASS AGENDA

INTRODUCTION

• Last week we learned more about the enemy’s ways and strategies against us. We learned that sometimes we are our own worst enemy when our flesh rules us. Hopefully, we all learned how really big our God is and the depths of His love like we never have before.

• Tonight we are going to dig into the weapons of warfare that the Lord has provided for us to defeat Satan’s wiles as they come up.

• We are going to learn how to use them and what we need to do to hone our skills in this area of prayer.

About Our Weapons

–Our foundational scripture for tonight is found in the book of Ephesians 6:10-18. Let’s read it together and then break it down.

–Verse 10 – “be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides].

–Right out the gate we have to realize that we can do NOTHING without Him. We are empowered to conquer ONLY through Him!

About Our Weapons

–Verse 11 – “Put on God’s whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able to successfully stand p against all the strategies and the deceits of the devil.”

–God isn’t going to do it for us. We must do our part in this thing. The armor is to be put on every day. These days are especially dangerous with all the hatred and violence in the land.

–He paid for all the things we need to be victorious—use it all.

About Our Weapons

–Verse 12 – “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”

–We have to recognize who we are fighting and that it isn’t people we are contending with. We have to be able to look past people and see that those opposing us are being used by these dark forces.

About Our Weapons

–Verse 13 – “Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and having done all the crisis demands, to stand firmly in your place.”

– The armor and the weapons give us the ability to stand our ground along with our immovable faith in God’s ability to give us the victory.

–You will reach the place where you just have to stand and believe God for the impossible after you have done everything His Word requires.

About Our Weapons

– Verse 14 – “Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the BELT OF TRUTH around your loins and having put on the BREASTPLATE OF RIGHTEOUSNESS (Integrity, and of moral rectitude, and right standing with God).”

– The belt of Truth is the deep rooted knowledge of the Word and His will for you. It is so important to hide the Word of God in your hearts for times such as this.

– The breastplate of righteousness is literally your intimate relationship with God. It is being in the center of His will for your life at any given moment.

About Our Weapons

• Verse 15 – “And having shod your feet in preparation [to face the enemy with firm-foot stability, the promptness, and the readiness produced by the good new] of the Gospel of peace.”

• This is the immoveable position in scripture. It is actual the Gospel shoes of peace. This position ensures that you are ready at any given moment to accomplish the will of the Father. The Psalm says “Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.” We are to bring heaven’s will to the earth.

About Our Weapons

• Verse – 16 “Lift up over all the covering SHIELD OF FAITH (saving faith), upon which you can quench ALL the flaming missiles of the wicked one.”

• Nothing in Satan’s arsenal of weapons can stop faith in God. Your faith in God takes away all impossibilities and brings you into the realm of possibilities.

• The Shield of Faith is the strong faith in God built from the day to day intimate relationship between YOU and GOD.

About Our Weapons

• Verse 17 – “And take the HELMET OF SALVATION and the SWORD OF THE SPIRIT (the sword that the Spirit wields), which is the WORD OF GOD.”

• Our firm foundation is our salvation. Our names being written in the Lamb’s book of life. Jesus said that is our greatest joy and benefit. All this warfare will end one day and we will be strong in the Lord as a result of it.

• The Bible—the pure Word of God is what the Spirit of God wields as we speak it out in faith against all the power of the enemy.

About Our Weapons

• Verse 18 – “Pray at all times (on every occasion, in every season) in the Spirit, with all [manner of] prayer and entreaty. To that end keep alert and watch with strong purpose and perseverance, interceding in behalf of all the saints (God’s consecrated people).”

• The weapon of praying in the Spirit is critical in overcoming the trials and attacks of the enemy. He can’t understand the heavenly language of the Spirit. He can’t use the words spoken in the Spirit against us. When you can’t think of anything else you can do, PRAY IN THE SPIRIT! The breakthrough will come.

About Our Weapons

• God is so good! He has thought of everything to equip us to go through our lives living above the waves. The Psalm says “through God, I can run through a troop and leap over a wall.” (Psalm 18:29)

• God has provided weapons that we have never considered as weapons. Such as the weapon of repentance and the weapon of praise.

• Let’s look at all the weapons that our God has provided for us!

Offensive Weapons

–When an army goes on the offensive, they are the aggressors. They are advancing forward. We are supposed to depopulate Satan’s prisons and bring those souls into God’s kingdom. That is our mission as end time believers. Souls are more important now than ever before simply because of the evil times. So much deception has to be overcome to bring the lost into the kingdom.

– The army of God is an aggressive army. The gates of hell won’t prevail against OUR onslaught!

Offensive Weapons

– The offensive weapons we have access to include:

– The Name of Jesus

– The Blood of Jesus

– The Sword of the Spirit (Word of God)

– Praying in the Spirit

– Praise & Worship

– Repentance

– Agape Love

Offensive WeaponsThe Name of Jesus

• The Name of Jesus is our authority. It is critical that we always speak in the Name of Jesus. The enemy MUST bow to His Name because of the utter defeat he suffered when Jesus died and rose again.

• Luke 10:17 says “The seventy returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name!”


• Philippians 2:-11 says “Therefore [because He stooped so low] God has highly exalted Him and has freely bestowed on Him the name that is above every name. That in (at) the Name of Jesus every knee should (must) bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth. And every tongue [frankly and openly] confess and acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”


• Matthew 28:18 says “Jesus approached and breaking the silence, said to them, All authority (all power of rule) in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.”

• The Name of Jesus really is our primary weapon. Because the enemy has ALREADY been defeated by Jesus. We are enforcing His kingdom laws in the earth when we use His name to do any kind of spiritual warfare.

Offensive WeaponsThe Blood of Jesus

• The Blood of Jesus is also our primary weapon. The Name and the Blood. The Blood of Jesus totally repels darkness. That is why drawing the Bloodline of the Lamb of God is so effective. The enemy just doesn’t want to come into contact with the Precious Blood of the Lamb.

Offensive WeaponsApplying the Blood of Jesus

• The Blood of Jesus must be applied to your situation like any other transaction in the kingdom of God: through FAITH an the WORD of God spoken out of your mouth with full confidence that you will have what you say according to the Word of God.

• There are a few practical ways to apply the Blood of Jesus.• Pleading the Blood• Drawing a Bloodline• Holding the Blood

Offensive WeaponsPleading the Blood

• To plead is not to beg. It is a legal term used to present an argument for your case. For us, we go to the Throne of Grace/Court of Heaven to present our argument to the God of Heaven who is the only righteous Judge.

• It is through the Blood of Jesus that we are accepted into His realm. Nothing else. Our own righteousness is as filthy rags in coparison to His righteousness.


• You would plead the Blood of Jesus in any petition brought to God for any situation. By pleading the Blood, you are sealing the prayers & petitions (assuming they line up with scripture) for a “yes and amen” from Him!

• You would plead the Blood of Jesus when you have sinned and you know the enemy is accusing you. Agree with your adversary quickly Jesus says!

Here is a sample prayer to plead the Blood of Jesus over a petition/situation:


• “Father, I come before You boldly, through the Blood of Jesus Christ! I confess that I have sinned against You and Your Holy Word! I have (name your sin here). I agree with my adversary in that I am guilty of this sin! I REPENT and turn away and renounce it! I ask for Your help and mercy to get victory over this sin.

• I plead the Blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth over my sin right now! I thank You Father that through the Blood of Jesus Christ, I am cleansed! I am now in right standing with You and Satan has no legal ground to harm me or anything in my life! I thank You for mercy and grace. In Jesus’ Name I pray. Amen!”

Offensive WeaponsDrawing A Bloodline

• Every Blood-bought believer has the authority to draw a Blood Line around themselves, their property, their finances, their loved ones, their physical bodies and minds, their ministries and the list goes on to include EVERYTHING that concerns their lives. What is a Blood Line? It is the ultimate line in the sand to tell the devil his boundaries in our lives. The principle is found in the book of Exodus 12:1,3,5-7,11-13). Let’s read it together.


• The Israelites drew a blood line around their homes and families that the spirit of death could NOT cross. It was a type and shadow of the Blood of the Lamb of God that Satan and all his forces to this day cannot cross.

• This principle in the Word of God, is our example of God’s will in drawing a Blood line around our lives and situations, except the Blood we use is the Blood of Jesus Christ and we apply it by FAITH. Remember, faith is the currency of Heaven. Everything we do in the Kingdom of God must be done in FAITH!


• Once that Blood line is drawn, Satan has to back off, but he’s going to fight it and it may even look worse for a while, but stand in FAITH, until you see the battle turn. Hold that Blood line and stand in FAITH!

• Once Satan sees you won’t be moved by the circumstances, he has to flee. Remember, he is the accuser of the brethren and if you agree with the circumstances, he’s got you. Situations like this are intercessory prayer battles that require time to push through. The Bible says we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but we do WRESTLE!


Father, I come before You in the Name of Jesus Christ, who shed His Precious Blood that I might have victory in EVERYTHING that Satan throws at me! I bring my child before You now and claim him/her for the Kingdom of God! I refuse to let Satan take them away from me and You!

By an act of my FAITH, I draw a Blood Line with the Precious Blood around my child’s spirit, soul (mind, will and emotions) and physical body! I draw the Blood line around his/her education performance, friendships and everything that concerns them! I know Father, that You will perfect his/her life!

Offensive WeaponsDrawing a Bloodline

Satan, I remind you of the Blood of Jesus that covers my house! You cannot cross this Blood line in the Name and the Authority of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who defeated you by His death and resurrection! I bind you from operating against my child any further in the Name of Jesus!

Father, I thank You for the victory! I thank You that my child is Your child! I thank You that his/her spiritual eyes are being opened to Your goodness! I now stand in FAITH and I BELIEVE and TRUST You for my child’s life!

Offensive WeaponsDrawing a Bloodline

• This prayer covers all the bases. You are coming boldly to the Throne of Grace through the Blood of Jesus for your situation.

• You are claiming your child for the Kingdom, which is in God’s perfect will.

• You are making your stand against Satan’s attack.• You are using the weapon of the Blood of Jesus

against the enemy and you are taking your authority against Satan in Jesus’ Name.

• Finally, you are praising God for the victory and making your faith stand.

Offensive WeaponsHolding the Blood

• Holding the Blood takes drawing the Blood line a step further. To hold the Blood IS your faith stand. The Blood is held on the enemy until he flees. He MUST flee. The Blood of Jesus demands it of him.

• The scriptures back this principle up with:• “Withstand him; be firm in faith [against his onset—rooted,

established, strong, immovable, and determined], knowing that the same (identical) sufferings are appointed to your brotherhood (the whole body of Christians) throughout the world.” (I Peter 5:9)

• “Truly I tell you, whoever says to this mountain, “be lifted up and thrown into the sea!” and does not doubt at all in his heart but believes that what he says will take place, it will be done for him.” (Mark 11:23)


• “In conclusion, be strong in the Lord [be empowered through your union with Him]; draw your strength from Him [that strength which His boundless might provides]. Put on the whole armor [the armor of a heavily-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able to successfully stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.

• “For we are not wrestling with flesh and blood [contending only with physical opponents], but against the despotisms, against the powers, against [the master spirits who are] the world rulers of this present darkness, against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (supernatural) sphere.”

• Therefore put on God’s complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day [of danger], and having done all [the crisis demands], to stand [firmly in your place]. Stand therefore [hold your ground], having tightened the belt of truth around your loins and having put on the breastplate of integrity and of moral rectitude and right standing with God.”(Ephesians 6:12-14


• “And let us not lose heart and grow weary and faint in acting nobly and doing right, for in due time and at the appointed season, we shall reap, if we do not loosen and relax our courage and faint.” (Galatians 6:9)

• A dear sister in the Lord, Mrs. C. Nuzum wrote a teaching early in the twentieth century called “Resisting the Devil”. Holding the Blood of Jesus is in all actuality resisting the devil until you gain the victory. The real battle is NOT GIVING UP!


She wrote, “Faith in the Blood of Jesus, and in what God has said in His Word, when exercised in testimony against the devil, will always cause him to flee. First Peter 5:9 says, we are to be steadfast in resisting the devil.

We are never once to think he CAN remain or keep evil upon us, because God has said that if we resist him he WILL flee, and God’s Word CANNOT fail. So there is only one thing to see to, and that is to resist the devil until he goes, be the time long or short…

Your own mouth can hasten the victory greatly. God says in Mark 11:23, you shall have what you say if you do not doubt. Say, “I refuse to have this sickness,” no matter how much Satan tries to make you feel or see it…”


All the “mountains” in your life are prime candidates for the principle of holding the Blood of Jesus! There is one caveat to this; the Blood is not effective IF there is open or hidden SIN in your life.

Disobedience or rebellion to God’s known will for your life will shut it down. For example, you know it’s a sin to watch ungodly TV shows, you feel convicted every time you turn it on, but you continue to do so. You are guilty of disobedience and rebellion. Satan has a clear cut case against you to hold back your victory. God is not obligated to bring victory to the rebellious or disobedient.

You can plead the blood, hold the blood, smear the blood all over the place and it won’t change anything. You must get the sin out of the camp to be victorious in the Kingdom of God.


Remember this: EVERY victory, every blessing from God is a fight. Satan does not want God to get any glory and he is going to hold on until he can’t hold on any longer.

HE HAS TO OUTLAST US, not US outlast him! He should be the one on the defensive. We have the dominion now, because we have the Blood of Jesus!

Offensive WeaponsWithout the Blood of Jesus

Be encouraged beloved, to use ALL the tools and weapons that Jesus bought for us with His Precious Blood so many years ago! We are overcomers through His Blood.

The Blood of Jesus Christ is literally the life blood of the Christian walk. It is through the Blood that all healing comes whether it is inner healing, physical healing or deliverance from the oppression of the devil.

I encourage all of you to make every effort to learn everything you can about the Blood of Jesus beyond what has been discussed here in this school. Seek the Lord’s counsel on the subject. Let Him make the Blood more real to you than you ever thought possible. Without the Precious Blood of Jesus, there is NO hope.

Offensive WeaponsThe Sword of the Spirit (Word of God)

The Bible calls the Word of God His Sword. It has the power to change situations 180 degrees to our good when we take it seriously and use it as a weapon.

God is not a namby pamby God. When it comes to the souls of men, He is all LOVE towards us. This is the age of grace where His arms are extended saying “whosoever will—come!”

When it comes to rebels, whether they are spirit beings or human beings—He is a Man of War. Jesus is the Captain of the Lord’s Armies.


• Exodus 15:3-4 says “The LORD is a Man of War; the LORD is His name, Pharoah’s chariots and his host has He cast into the sea; his chosen captains also are sunk in the Red Sea.”

• God went to war for Moses and the children of Israel right there at the Red Sea. He totally defeated their great enemy: Pharoah.

• God is VERY active in the lives of His people if only we would let Him! He is in a COVENANT with us, which means that OUR enemies are HIS enemies and His enemies are our enemies! We give Him our ALL and He gives us His ALL—Jesus!


• Joshua 5:13-15 says “When Joshua was by Jericho, he looked up, and behold, a Man stood near him with His drawn sword in His hand. And Joshua went to Him and said to Him, Are you for us or for our adversaries?

• And He said, No [neither], but as Prince of the Lord’s hosts have I now come. And Joshua fell on his face to Him. What says my Lord to His servant?

• And the Prince of the Lord’s host said to Joshua, Loose your shoes from off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy. And Joshua did so.”


• Notice that the “Man” in these verses is capitalized. Who does that say this Man is? It is Jesus! Jesus Christ is our Commander in Chief!

• I want you to get it into your spirit that you are never alone in your struggles. When you call on the Name of the Lord, He comes to help you with all the resources of heaven.

• And one of those resources is HIS WORD which is the Sword of the Spirit!


• How do we use the Sword of the Spirit? We use it with our MOUTH. We speak out the Word of God over our situation.

• You find the scriptures in the Word—led by the Holy Spirit—and then you take the scriptures that He gives you because when He gives you the scriptures they become ALIVE or Rhema words. Faith Words.

• The Sword IS the Rhema Word of God for YOUR situation—yes just for YOU!


• Isaiah 55:11 says “So shall My word be that goes forth out of My mouth; it shall not return to Me void [without producing any effect, useless], but it shall accomplish that which I please and purpose, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.”

• What is the Bible? The Word of God. It comes straight from God’s mouth. It stands to reason that speaking God’s Word is not going to be a futile effort!


• Here is a sample prayer that pray over my day I before I leave the house every morning:

Father I come before You in the mighty Name of Jesus Christ; Yeshua! Through His Precious Blood I come and ask for forgiveness for all my sins and I ask to be washed in His Precious Blood today! Cleanse me from all unrighteousness. Create in me a clean heart today and renew a right spirit within me O Lord My God! Please set a watch over my mouth and a guard over my lips that I won’t sin against You with my mouth. Father this day I surrender everything to You today. I choose to obey Your every command, Your every wish and Your every want for this day in my life. Use me O Lord to plant, to weed, to prune, to water, and to harvest in Your white harvest fields. Father let the brilliant light of Heaven shine in my realm today. Let my family, friends and enemies all be touched today by the brilliant light of Your love.

In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I take authority over my realm today. I take dominion over all the power of Satan and his forces ranged against me! I draw a bloodline around my mind, will, emotions, and physical body in the Name of Jesus! I draw a bloodline around all my possessions and my work place, my position on the job and everything associated with my position at MWV. I decree and declare that no demon or fallen angel can cross the Bloodline drawn with the Blood of the Lamb! Father I ask for the Host of Heaven to come to my aid to trample the enemy underfoot that is ranged against me in the mighty Name of Jesus!


• ALL SPIRITUAL WARFARE IS FOUGHT WITH THE WORDS THAT COME OUT OF OUR MOUTH.

• THE SWORD OF THE SPIRIT IS GOD’S WORD SPOKEN OUT OF OUR MOUTH IN FAITH OVER THE SITUATION.

Offensive WeaponsPraying in the Spirit

• Yes, praying in the Holy Spirit is a very powerful weapon that we have to wage spiritual warfare.

• Satan can’t understand the heavenly prayer language. It is between us and the Godhead and Satan is no longer privy to the plans of God.


• There are several important reasons we should pray in the Holy Spirit—that is in our heavenly prayer language.• Romans 8:26 “So too the Holy Spirit comes to our aid

and bears us up in our weakness; for we do not know what prayer to offer nor how to offer it worthily as we ought, but the Spirit Himself goes to meet our supplication and pleads in our behalf with unspeakable yearnings and groanings too deep for utterance.”

• The Holy Spirit is our intercessor! When we pray in the Spirit, it is Him at work on behalf of the situation!


• Jude 1:20 says “But you, beloved, build yourselves up on your most holy faith [make progress, rise like an edifice higher and higher], praying in the Holy Spirit.”

• We are strengthened in our entire being when we pray in the Spirit. Have you ever been dog tired and prayed in the Spirit for a while and felt refreshed and strengthened?


• I Corinthians 14:4 says He who speaks in a [strange] tongue edifies and improves himself, but he who prophesies edifies and improves the church and promotes growth [in Christian wisdom, piety, holiness and happiness].”

• He is talking about our private prayer language that we receive after the Baptism in the Holy Spirit. This language EDIFIES and IMPROVES us!


• Galatians 5:16 says “But I say, walk and live [habitually] in the Holy Spirit [responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit]; then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh.”

• Praying in the Spirit helps us put our flesh down. It helps us walk and live habitually in God’s presence. How cool is that?

Offensive WeaponsPraise & Worship

• Praise and worship is a part of warfare. It declares the greatness and the power of our God. It builds faith in Him. It increases our intimacy with Him.

• When the praises go up--the glory comes down!


• King Jehoshaphat went to war one day and the praise and worship team were on point!

• Let’s read II Chronicles 20 1-22

• Notice verse 22 “And when they began to sing and to praise, the Lord set ambushments against the men of Ammon, Moab and Mount Seir who had come against Judah, and they were self-slaughtered.”


• When you break out the weapon of praise and worship in your battle, you are declaring your faith and confidence in God’s ability and willingness to give you the victory—no matter how long it takes.

• Praise and worship makes it more difficult for Satan to convince you to give up the fight.

• Praise and worship brings the presence of God! Devils flee in the presence of the King!

Offensive WeaponsThe Secret Weapon of Repentance

–Repentance is a weapon? An offensive weapon? YES! And a very powerful weapon at that!

–Repentance is agreeing with the adversary quickly. It is putting any sin or mistake under the Blood of Jesus where it is completely dissolved as if it never existed.

–Repentance infuriates Satan because it causes him to lose case after case against mankind.

–Are you up against a brick wall? Examine yourself for sinful attitudes that are blocking you and REPENT!


–Here are some scriptures on repentance and God’s response to it:

– 2 Chronicles 7:14

– I John 1:9

– Acts 3:19

– Proverbs 28:13

– James 4:8-10

– Matthew 5:25


–Repentance completely shuts down Satan’s case against you in the Court of Heaven. His accusations fall on deaf ears. He has to flee.

–Repentance restores your relationship to the Lord and you can once again enjoy the peace that passes all understanding.

–Repentance releases the blessings of God to move back into your life.

–Repentance ensures you stay humble before your God. God resists the proud. He hates pride.

Offensive WeaponsThe Weapon of Agape Love

–Agape love—the God love is unconquerable. God’s love cannot fail. It is impossible for God’s love to fail.

– Love truly does conquer all. There can be no charge against Agape love brought in the Court of Heaven or even in the court of men for that matter.

–How do we apply Agape to spiritual warfare? By walking in it. By cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Agape love cause us to rise above it all even while we are in the middle of it.


–How can Agape love be an offensive spiritual warfare weapon?

–When Agape love is fully developed in a Christian, they are a fully mature believer. If you look at the fruit of the Spirit, which when cultivated fully brings forth Agape Love in action.

– Satan cannot bring a charge and he cannot gain a foothold in the life of a believer who is walking in the fullness of Agape love.


– Let’s look at a few scriptures on Agape Love:

– John 14:23

– Mark 12:33

– I Peter 1:22

– I John 4:18

– I John 4:7

– John 13:34

– Romans 13:10


–When you fail to love, then you become guilty of the whole law.

– This means that Satan can bring charges against you in the Court of Heaven.

– Love is very important to God. He loves unconditionally and He expects His children to do the same.

–Remember: Agape Love NEVER Fails!

– The weapons of our warfare are wide and varied. There is more to the arsenal God has provided through the Blood of Jesus than meets the eye!

–Offense is always moving forward. Retreat is not an option. Do put your hand to the plow and then turn back. Count the cost before you engage. If you aren’t ready, then get some agreement and help from other believers.
