Where Would A Student Find The Right Job Or Internship

The applicant can definitely search newspaper job postings for available positions with the employer. These job postings will then direct applicants to come to employers address to fill out a paper application or send your resume to a specific address or employer’s email address to apply for the specified position within the company. The employer will review the application or resume and possibly call the applicant if the applicant meets the qualifications for the specified position with the employer. The applicant has to follow up with the employer since the employers with not always call you back concerning the application or after the job interview.

The employer generally states they will only be contacting the candidate or candidates they want to hire within one week from the job interview. The applicant would find the right job or internship with the use of the internet. The internet is massive and really an information superhighway with abundant resources and information concerning most activities that people do on a daily basis. More specifically, the student would use the internet to access job sites like Monster.com, Careerbuilder.com, Indeed.com, pacsc.gov (Pennsylvania civil service commission)* (I used PA. since I live here),usajobs.gov and other well -known job sites. Another key resource would the individual employer websites

themselves (P&G, Coca Cola, Glaxo SmithKline) and search for positions with the employer. There are also other local job sites to assist the applicant in searching for employment in a given geographical area. The job applicant can also go to job staffing agencies and the local Career Link Office to search and apply for positions with a specific employer the applicant would like to work at the company. Networking with people, employers, job specialists and distributing your resume to employers as a process to finding the right job would be another way to find the right job.

Four to Five Jobs That I Find Interesting And Why I Find The Jobs Interesting

Logistics/Operations of a company or Operation Manager

(Lowes Warehouse-distribution Center, Grocery Store (Wegmans) or a Pharmaceutical company)-I can do the physical work and probably best suited to medium-fast paced job compared to a sitting desk, computer job for 8 hours a day. The sitting desk job is just not for me because I like to be fairly active through the day and interact with different people throughout the day. The idea that I am part of the entire process from (manufacturing-shipping-consumer receives goods) of sending necessary merchandise to the consumer that that people use in their life. Contributing to everyone’s well- being with regard to these consumer goods being manufactured and sold to the public.

Computer Network Engineer— Configuring all the computers in a network to work and communicate with each other. The Network engineer is responsible to keep the entire computer network up and running each day. The work can be challenging at times since a computer network is rather complex and problems can occur at various parts in the network and diagnosing where the problem is and fixing the problem within the network with a company or educational institution can be difficult as these educational institutions and companies have complex computer network systems within their physical location. Companies and educational institutions are two parts of economy that really have a great dependency on computers, sharing information, sending/receiving information and communicating with all other computers in the network. When problems occur, the network engineer must diagnose where the break in the chain of communication is

with the network. The network engineer must fix the problem and keep the entire computer network working along with scheduled maintenance shutdowns in daily operations of the entire computer network in a company or an educational institution where this network is greatly utilized in every day operations.

Automotive Technician-I always had interest and curiosity about how car engines run and how one part of process facilitates another process in the process of the operation of a motor vehicle. The engine provides torque to transmission in which the Transmission or CV joints (front wheel drive cars) coming from the transmission provide drive to the wheels. The CV joints working in combination with power steering to drive and direct the vehicle. Learning how the spark plugs fire in sequence (4 cylinder engine-plugs don’t fire in order 1, 2, 3, 4) and when valves open and close, piston operation and overall car engine operation when car engine is running.

Another key point would how computers regulate vehicle operation (fuel /air mixture in fuel injection)Anti-lock Brake system-(computer related) and the airbag system in a car, detection of high speed, impact to deploy airbags in event of a car crash. Another part of auto mechanics would be how transmissions work how transmissions drive the car. I have done general, easy repairs (headlights, windshield wipers, fluids-oil, power steering fluid, antifreeze, transmission fluid, replace air cleaner) on previous cars I have owned. However, I have not done any repairs where the technical knowledge was needed and specialized tools/equipment was needed to fix the car. I do not have this knowledge to fix the car. When more technical problems with the car occur, I bring the car to the repair garage and auto mechanic to fix the problems with the car.

I have some technical knowledge with car repair but not enough knowledge to fix the more serious, complex problems with the cars. My father rebuilt carburetors (engine) and automatic transmission twice with previous cars that we had in the mid 1980’s to early 1990’s when cars were not as technical and difficult to fix the problems with the car.

Meteorologist- I was interested in what causes weather, storms to form, climate and think weather is Interesting. I was actually accepted to Millersville University to study Meteorology. Unfortunately, due to associated living expenses with being

at Millersville University, I could not commit to Millersville University for Meteorology here. I decided to attend Keystone College in La Plume, Pennsylvania for Business as my major and Information Technology as my minor at Keystone College in La Plume, PA 18419.

Networking-Connect with other people you know to inquire about job opportunities in the companies and jobs you might be interested in working for that company. This includes communications, participation with family, friends, and professionals, completing internships, volunteering, and working with employment/job professionals, joining professional organizations, job searching on job websites, working with recruiters and communicating with instructors as a process to gain more personal exposure to employers in today’s job market.

Linked In-professional networking site to help the candidate to be found for potential job opportunities in various companies within the job market.

Strategies That Will Separate You from Graduating Seniors:

Earning good grades in college

Visiting prospective employers and distributing your resume to them. Start the job application process by going out to prospective employers, distributing your resume and applying for positions for which you have the education and qualifications for the job.

During the visit to prospective employers, communicate and ask about current and future job opportunities with the prospective employer. If there are no current job opportunities at employer, process

to discuss future consideration for job opportunities with the employer. Another key point would be to consider a different job other than the job you have applied for given there might not be available positions with that specific job that you wanted to apply for that position when you visited the employer.

Visiting the career center and working with a career counselor to apply, take necessary tests for employment and to help guide you through the job application process. The job applicant should receive advice from the career counselor concerning the job application and job interview key points before you actually apply for the job with the employer. The job applicant should also receive job interview advice from career counselor prior to going to the job interviews with prospective employers. The job applicant should make the best impression to a prospective employer and show why he or she is the best applicant and most qualified for the job at the job interview with the employer.

Networking with other people-communication, interacting, involvement, service, volunteering, working on projects, attending conferences with other people as a way to receive more exposure to employers than just applying to a job.

Take an active involved approach in the job search to finding your job. Do not just apply for jobs on line, job sites or company websites, applying to those jobs and sit, waiting and hoping you will get called for a job interview. You will not receive a job interview or job with minimal involvement in the job application process. The job applicant will not receive the job interview and the job that easy in today’s job market. The entire job process is more complicated and involves more work on part of the job applicant, utilization of available resources, and greater exposure to employers to be successful in getting the job interview and ultimately the job with the employer. The job process in regard to the overall process and success of interviewing and finding a job in your field of study or finding a job in general in today’s work force.

These efforts potentially will give the applicant the best opportunity to connect with employers, good exposure to various employers and being hired for the position with the employer.

The Items That Should be included In A Portfolio: The Portfolio should include awards, certificates, achievements, shows the quality, scope of your work, projects that the student has completed in their college years or previous employer to show at the job interview. Additional items that should be included are resumes college transcript, list experiences that don’t fit into resume, fact sheet –skills, what you like to do. The Employment portfolio is a folder with supplemental information about you and skills and abilities which are offered to an employer during an interview.

The portfolio should also be organized prior to interview as well. The portfolio is very important to have as the full portfolio is really a marketing, selling tool for you and your work and achievements to showcase to a prospective employer. The portfolio can be considered an enhancement regarding work and achievements to the applicant’s education, experience, references and other information for which the prospective employer can make an informed decision on whether to hire or not hire the applicant for the position at their company.

I have had an active LinkedIn account since December 2012 and I have over 800 connections now. LinkedIn is a professional networking site for people looking to find that perfect job. LinkedIn is a good way to find job opportunities and network with people in similar professions,

network with people to find potential jobs with employers. I do have a small portfolio (certificates, work, projects-IH certificate (Math3120/Statistics), business plan and I.T. Disaster recovery plan) of my work currently on LinkedIn and a portfolio presentation of my work available to prospective employers.

Letters of Recommendations and References:Letters of recommendation are documents from that person has worked with you in school or employment setting on a specific project or observed your work in an academic or work setting. Letters of Recommendation give insight into the person’s ethic and character citing specific skills, work attitude and achievements of the job applicant. The person can attest to the quality, hard work and integrity that you have put into your work whether it be college classes, research project, work project or project that you and the person stating the recommendation have worked on and person can state your hard work, integrity, motivation, success in the given situation or setting. This is more specific and direct to what the person receiving the recommendation has completed, their success and attitude toward their work in a given setting as observed by the other person, person that worked with you in a specific setting(college, work, research) within the given time period.

Reference is a source , people you know, have worked with you and who can attest to the person you are, integrity honesty, work ethic, respect, compliance with laws when they worked with in the past or work with you in current time. A reference can also be a teacher or professor who knows you as a student and the work you have achieved at the college level. Previous employers are usually good references to use. However, the reference (if only person you know) is less specific and less informative since the person giving reference can really only attest to the person’s integrity, character, and personal experience and to some extent the work ethic of the person requesting the reference.

Thank You Notes and Their Importance and Usage in the Job Search Process. Thank You notes are important and generally sent immediately after the interview. The applicant should still send a thank you note to the employer even if they didn’t receive the job from the employer. The job applicant is basically thanking the employer for their time and interest in the job candidate to consider the person for employment at the company. The Thank You not indicates to the

employer that you have good manners, respect people’s time and efforts, you are considerate and care about the position and that you have positive people and communications skills. Such a small gesture but very important action that will set you apart from many applicants if you send “thank you” notes to employer that interviewed for a job.
