Lockdown in Poland
➢Lockdown-type control measures started on 10th-12th March, closing schools and university classes and cancelling mass events (above 1000 people).
➢The lockdown measures were strengthened on 25th March, limiting non-family gatherings to two people and religious gatherings to six and forbidding non-essential travel.
➢The lockdown restrictions were tightened starting on 31st March–1st April by a government regulation, requiring individuals walking in streets to be separated by two metres, closing parks, boulevards, beaches, hairdressers and beauty salons, and forbidding unaccompanied minors from exiting their homes.
➢A follow-up regulation on 10 April loosened the restrictions on public gatherings starting from 20 April, allowing religious gatherings and funerals to be held for up to a maximum of 50 people.
➢The pandemic and the isolation measures in response to it had a serious influence on the Polish economy, especially commerce, tourism and the hospitality industries.

Business Tendency Survey (BTS)
➢The following slideshow presents the result of the periodical research prepared by the Polish Statistical Office (PSO) in the middle of July 2020
➢PSO arranged every month the Business Tendency Survey (BTS), showing the present situation and business perspectives in the near terms
➢ In Poland, business tendency survey questionnaires contain questions related to the basic features of the economic situation in all business sectors in terms of general economic situation of the company, order-books, production, stocks, financial situation, employment, prices, production capacity, capacity utilization, duration of assured production, limits to activity, competitive position etc.
➢Based on gathered replies indicators are calculated.
➢ In the current month (answers provided between 1st and 10th July) supplementary set of questions has continued to be added. This set aims to additionally diagnose the impact of coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 pandemic on business tendency. It contains questions on how big this impact on economic situation is, what are the changes in orders placed with suppliers or orders placed by clients, what is the access to employees, investment plans etc.

about Business Tendency Survey (BTS) Methodological notes
Business tendency survey (BTS) in manufacturing was introduced in Statistics Poland as the first of all BTSs in June 1992. Next there were BTS inconstruction (July 1993) and in retail trade (October 1993). In 1999 questions on investment were extracted from questionnaires in industry andconstruction to create separate survey in investment harmonized with European Commission requirements. In January 2003 the new BTS in services wasstarted. Since 2011 the same questionnaire as BTS in retail trade is sent also to units carrying out wholesale trade activity. Moreover in 2011 a newsampling scheme was introduced to enable presentation of data at voivodship level.
BTSs samples vary depending on scope of survey – sample in manufacturing (section C) covers 3500 entities, in construction (section F) – 3999, in trade(section G) – 7797, in services (sections H–S) – 5000 entities. In manufacturing the basic observation units are entities with 10 and more persons employed,in other kinds of activity there are also included firms with up to 9 persons employed.
Size classes are determined according to the number of persons employed:
➢ Up to 9 persons employed (micro),
➢ 10-49 persons employed (small),
➢ 50-249 persons employed (medium),
➢ 250 and more persons employed (large).
