RECENT FORENSIC JOB COMPLETED:

REAKGONA GROUP (Pty) LTD

The Turnover for this company as at 31 March 2014 is R450million

Number of Staff +- 2000 across South Africa

Industry: HYGIENE and Toiletries

The Directors appointed us as Nameng Chartered Accountants to investigate the following:

(a). Possible fraud being perpetrated through the salaries bank account. The monthly salary bill for

the company is around R2.5million. Our Mandate was to determine whether the Human Resource

Manager together with the Financial Manager was not colluding to create ‘GHOST’ employees in

the salaries system. As salaries were fluctuating noticeably from one month to the next without any

corresponding increase in the number of employees, therefore it raised a suspicion as to the

possible ghost employees.

(c). Also part of the salaries investigation, we were also requested to investigate as the actual

physical numbers of employees on the payroll.

(b). Possible Fraud being perpetrated through the company’s Petty Sash Account. The general petty

cash of the company is maintained at around R600,000. The Directors were concerned about the

lack supporting evidence for some of the items procured using petty cash account.

Reporting: After the forensic audit we had to compile an extensive forensic audit report on the

above mentioned items and also the recommendations thereof.


ENVIRONMENTAL AFFAIRS

EPWP Project Implementer: BASADZI PELE MANAGEMENT CONSULTING:

Project Value: R20million

The department requested us to provide a report on the project to provide evidence as to whether

the funds of the projects where utilized on the project as per the Memorandum of Agreement

between the Implementer and The Department of Environmental Affairs.

Some of the deliverables to where investigated are as follows:

(a). As to whether the reported MANDAYS reported on the progress reports where as stated;

(b). As to whether the Project Implementer did employ the previously disadvantaged employees as

reported on the progress report;

(c). Investigate the procurement process from the different Suppliers (Service providers) was as per

the Memorandum of Agreement between the Implementer and the Department of Environmental

Affairs.

(d). Investigate as to whether all the assets purchased in the project after the completion of the

project were all donated to the organization agreed to by the Implementer and the Department of

Environmental Affairs.

(e). Investigate as to whether the Three Quote System was followed during the procurement of

goods and services by the implementer:

Reporting: We had to compile the report to the Environment department with our findings on the

matters stated above.


GAUTENG DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION

We were enlisted in 2012 together with an accounting firm in Johannesburg to perform and an

investigation in a number of Schools around Johannesburg.

Our mandate was to provide an Investigation Report for on the following matters at different

Schools:

(a). Whether schools funds received from both the Department and from school fees were

accounted properly and were used properly as per the schools mandate;

(b). Investigate as to whether schools management do invest in the infrastructures. And whether the

infrastructure was well maintained;

(c) . Investigate as to whether the assets of the schools are protected;

(d). Do a thorough investigations into the finances of schools to ascertain as to whether there is no

cash embezzlement as schools.

Reporting: We had to prepare a detailed investigation report as per our findings and the related recommendations to the Department of Education.

ASSET VERIFICATION EXPERIENCE:

LGSETA Appointment (Bedfordview)

Nameng Chartered Accountants (SA) INC was appointed on the 13 June 2014 by LGSETA to

perform the Asset Verification on its National Asset Register. This was a national project which

was delivered within three weeks. Please refer to the appointment letter for further evidence. The

Verification included the following Provinces:
