pause for a minute's silence to honour the 1,209 people who were killed on our roads last year, including 348 people in New South Wales, as part of National Road Safety Week 2016.

(2) Recognises the important work of Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Inc to promote initiatives that will bring about improved road safety and to support those affected by road tragedy, which started as a result of the Hume Highway crash of 15 February 2012 that tragically took the lives of Sarah Frazer and Geoffrey Clark.

(3) Supports the road safety campaigns of SARAH Inc and National Road Safety Week, and urges all Australians to think about their driving and the responsibility we all share on the roads.

(4) Reflects on the 1,209 who lost their lives on Australia's roads last year and expresses its condolences to all the family and friends whose lives have been changed forever by the loss of those dear to them.

worker at the Marrickville Legal Centre will not be funded beyond 30 June 2016.(2) Notes that for seven years, the position was funded through the Inner West Domestic Violence

Pro-Active Support Service and that since being informed of the funding cut, the centre has undertaken extensive fundraising, but still needs help.

1025 COMMUNITY RADIO STATION FUNDINGMS JENNY LEONG to move—

That this House:(1) Acknowledges the important role played by community radio stations in connecting local

communities, promoting local arts and culture, providing localised news and offering opportunities for aspiring media practitioners to hone their craft.

(2) Notes that the Federal Budget failed to address a drop in funding to the community radio sector of $1.4 million per annum, funding that currently allows community radio stations to broadcast on digital frequencies.

(3) Considers that this shortfall in funding limits the capacity of community radio stations to reach audiences and will therefore have a detrimental effect on the future of the sector.

(4) Calls on the Government to make representations and lobby the Federal Government to reinstate funding to community radio.

(5) Calls on the Government to fund this essential community service if the Federal Government fails to do this.

1026 STRICKLAND HOUSE ESTATEMS GABRIELLE UPTON to move—

That this House:(1) Notes that on 7 May 2016 at the National Trust's 2016 Heritage Awards, the Woollahra History

and Heritage Society won the Advocacy Campaign Award for its committed 27 year campaign for Strickland House.

(2) Commends Peter Poland OAM, President of the Woollahra History and Heritage Society, his late wife June Poland and society members for being staunch advocates for the preservation of the heritage of Woollahra municipality.

(3) Recognises Strickland House Estate as a unique and beautiful place spread across five hectares of harbour foreshore and recognised as such by the local community and beyond.

(4) Notes the strong commitment of the Member for Vaucluse to keep the Strickland House Estate in public ownership and that any future use is sympathetic to its heritage value, is low impact, protects the public right to ongoing access and contributes to its maintenance costs.

(2) Notes that changes to the paramedics death and disability scheme occurred due to five fold increases in insurance policy premiums.

(3) Understands that paramedics are a front line service who are injured at twice the rate of other frontline services.

(4) Notes that without adequate death and disability scheme paramedics may hesitate before undertaking certain jobs.

(5) Notes the inequities compared to other frontline services.

(6) Requests the Government to work on a strategy to increase the paramedic's death and disability scheme.

(7) Thanks the Government for hearing the concerns of the Member for Wollondilly and those of the electorate.

(8) Values and appreciates the work of paramedics and notes the work they do in the community including saving the life of the Member for Wollondilly when involved in a car accident a decade ago.

WestConnex corridor.

(2) Considers that WestConnex will have an extremely detrimental effect on a large number of Sydney schools and school children due to their proximity to proposed tollroads, unfiltered ventilation stacks and significant increased traffic volumes.

(3) Calls on the Government to recognise its duty of care to all children who attend these schools, who will be subject to unacceptable, increased levels of harmful toxins and increased traffic hazards as a result of WestConnex.

(3) Notes that investment in the Lake Macquarie Transport Interchange project will do more to drive effective public transport in the region for much less money than the money spent on a small section of light rail project in Newcastle.

Pennant Street bridge is now the most important infrastructure project in the Hunter Region, and provide prioritised funding.
