French’s Bakery has been a longtime tradition in Orange County since the French family opened the original location in 1956. 21 years later Jerry French opened his own version on 17th Street in Costa Mesa, called French’s Cupcake Bakery. It has been there ever since and has earned the loyalty of many locals (and even some non-locals), extending through generations of families. Today the French family tradition lives on with French’s Cupcake Bakery creating fresh baked goods every day using only the finest ingredients and no preservatives. All of our baked goods are made on the premises using time-honored recipes by our skilled staff. We strive to always have fresh, delicious pastries, cookies, muffins, breads and rolls available on a daily basis. And of course, as the name implies, we do make cupcakes! There are many versions of delicious cupcakes to choose from, but the ones most talked about are the Lemon Blueberry cupcake, the Killer Chocolate cupcake and the Tollhouse cupcake.
We have also developed a reputation for great birthday and wedding cakes, but the signature product is Jerry French’s original creation of the Wagon Wheel. This pizza-size cream cheese Danish has become legendary-even to the point where it is copied by our competitors (of course under a different name). It comes in several different versions and truly is something everyone should try at least once.
French’s Cupcake Bakery has received numerous awards and many excellent reviews throughout its 38 years at this location. Barley Forge Brewing Co., Costa Mesa’s first-ever craft production brewery has opened. Housed in a 10,000 square foot mid-century industrial facility, the brewery includes a combined tasting room, licensed on-site kitchen, bottling, aging, and production brewery. The tasting room is open to the public and beer and food are served seven days a week.
Barley Forge Brewing Co. brews Belgian, West Coast and German-style beers – a blend of traditional, recognized styles and creative twists that draw from the melting pot of cuisines and cultures in Southern California. Boldly going where few production craft breweries have dared to venture, Barley Forge Brewing Co. is proud to have a fully licensed kitchen. In addition to beer; wine, housemade sodas, and food are served seven days a week in the tasting room. And on weekends the menu expands to include on-site barbequing.
President and co-founder, Greg Nylen, states that Barley Forge Brewing Co. is delighted to serve as Costa Mesa’s first-ever production craft brewery and that “we intend to make the City proud.” Beginning his search in Los Angeles’ Westside, where he practiced as an entertainment and intellectual property litigator for twenty-four years, Nylen spent two years looking for the right location to open his brewery. A graduate of University High in Irvine with deep family ties to Orange County, Nylen ultimately deemed Costa Mesa, with its craft-beer-savvy residents and forward-thinking retailers, the perfect location. Noting that production breweries are often relegated by zoning ordinances to far-flung industrial locations and, thus, disconnected from residential areas and the pulse of the community, Nylen was elated to discover Costa Mesa’s SoBECA (South Bristol Entertainment and Cultural Arts) district. Mary Ann Frericks, Nylen’s wife and Barley Forge Brewing Co. Vice President and co-founder stated, “a lot of our tasting room customers tell me they live within walking distance and express a multitude of gratitude for opening in their neighborhood..” Frericks is quick to respond, “you know your city has arrived when you have an independent coffeehouse, a farmer’s market and a production craft brewery.”
Nylen’s path to opening a brewery had humble origins dating back to a beer epiphany he experienced over twenty years ago while visiting family living in England. While practicing law he spent over two decades also learning the craft of home-brewing beer, often brewing and entering many competitions with the help of Barley Forge co-founder David Chapman.

The OC Fair & Event Center (OCFEC) Board of Directors announced recently that Kathy Kramer has been named CEO, succeeding interim CEO Doug Lofstrom, who is retiring from the organization. The appointment is effective January 5, 2015.
Ms. Kramer will assume her CEO responsibilities effective January 5, 2015 and Mr. Lofstrom will remain in an advisory role assisting her through the leadership transition.The OC Fair & Event Center is located off the 405 and 55

The Chamber’s CEO Kyle Woosley presented the Costa Mesa Senior Center with this year’s donation.
Each year the Chamber’s Ambassadors Corp collects Target Gift cards for needy seniors in the community. The group selected the Senior Center as its holiday giving project because seniors are so often overlooked in favor of other more press worthy causes such as homeless or group homes. When the truth is many seniors may have roofs over their heads yet, cannot afford basics such as food, clothing, medical supplies or cleaning supplies.

The OC Fair & Event Center (OCFEC) Board of Directors announced recently that Kathy Kramer has been named CEO, succeeding interim CEO Doug Lofstrom, who is retiring from the organization. The appointment is effective January 5, 2015.
Ms. Kramer will assume her CEO responsibilities effective January 5, 2015 and Mr. Lofstrom will remain in an advisory role assisting her through the leadership transition.The OC Fair & Event Center is located off the 405 and 55

French’s Bakery has been a longtime tradition in Orange County since the French family opened the original location in 1956. 21 years later Jerry French opened his own version on 17th Street in Costa Mesa, called French’s Cupcake Bakery. It has been there ever since and has earned the loyalty of many locals (and even some non-locals), extending through generations of families. Today the French family tradition lives on with French’s Cupcake Bakery creating fresh baked goods every day using only the finest ingredients and no preservatives. All of our baked goods are made on the premises using time-honored recipes by our skilled staff. We strive to always have fresh, delicious pastries, cookies, muffins, breads and rolls available on a daily basis. And of course, as the name implies, we do make cupcakes! There are many versions of delicious cupcakes to choose from, but the ones most talked about are the Lemon Blueberry cupcake, the Killer Chocolate cupcake and the Tollhouse cupcake.
We have also developed a reputation for great birthday and wedding cakes, but the signature product is Jerry French’s original creation of the Wagon Wheel. This pizza-size cream cheese Danish has become legendary-even to the point where it is copied by our competitors (of course under a different name). It comes in several different versions and truly is something everyone should try at least once.
French’s Cupcake Bakery has received numerous awards and many excellent reviews throughout its 38 years at this location. Barley Forge Brewing Co., Costa Mesa’s first-ever craft production brewery has opened. Housed in a 10,000 square foot mid-century industrial facility, the brewery includes a combined tasting room, licensed on-site kitchen, bottling, aging, and production brewery. The tasting room is open to the public and beer and food are served seven days a week.
Barley Forge Brewing Co. brews Belgian, West Coast and German-style beers – a blend of traditional, recognized styles and creative twists that draw from the melting pot of cuisines and cultures in Southern California. Boldly going where few production craft breweries have dared to venture, Barley Forge Brewing Co. is proud to have a fully licensed kitchen. In addition to beer; wine, housemade sodas, and food are served seven days a week in the tasting room. And on weekends the menu expands to include on-site barbequing.
President and co-founder, Greg Nylen, states that Barley Forge Brewing Co. is delighted to serve as Costa Mesa’s first-ever production craft brewery and that “we intend to make the City proud.” Beginning his search in Los Angeles’ Westside, where he practiced as an entertainment and intellectual property litigator for twenty-four years, Nylen spent two years looking for the right location to open his brewery. A graduate of University High in Irvine with deep family ties to Orange County, Nylen ultimately deemed Costa Mesa, with its craft-beer-savvy residents and forward-thinking retailers, the perfect location. Noting that production breweries are often relegated by zoning ordinances to far-flung industrial locations and, thus, disconnected from residential areas and the pulse of the community, Nylen was elated to discover Costa Mesa’s SoBECA (South Bristol Entertainment and Cultural Arts) district. Mary Ann Frericks, Nylen’s wife and Barley Forge Brewing Co. Vice President and co-founder stated, “a lot of our tasting room customers tell me they live within walking distance and express a multitude of gratitude for opening in their neighborhood..” Frericks is quick to respond, “you know your city has arrived when you have an independent coffeehouse, a farmer’s market and a production craft brewery.”
Nylen’s path to opening a brewery had humble origins dating back to a beer epiphany he experienced over twenty years ago while visiting family living in England. While practicing law he spent over two decades also learning the craft of home-brewing beer, often brewing and entering many competitions with the help of Barley Forge co-founder David Chapman.
