Certificates.

Certificate programs combine theory and practical components of a subject to prepare you for a job in your chosen industry. TutorSpace.TutorSpace is a free study session with specialist tutors to help our students write an assessment, begin a project, learn basic information technology skills or just to build their confidence in areas they need help with. These sessions run at various times and days during the week throughout the school year and are located at the Bendigo TAFE City campus library.

Student support services team.Bendigo TAFE’s student support services provide free and confidential services to students across all campuses with the aim of facilitating a positive learning environment for students. PAYING FOR YOUR COURSE

HOW TO APPLY

Applying for a course is easy. Just follow these simple steps to get your application in. Make sure you check your course dates and apply early so we can enrol you in the next intake.

We will review your application and will contact you directly to confirm your application status. Most courses commence at the start of semesters one and two, but there are some courses which take enrolments at any time throughout the year (rolling enrolments).

VTAC applications.VTAC handles most applications for entry into higher education and some full-time TAFE courses from the certificate IV level onwards. The course guide will indicate if you need to apply through VTAC for your course.

Apprenticeships.The Australian Apprenticeship Support Network (AASN) manage all contracts and training.

Find the course using the ‘Find a course’ search option and click on ‘Online Application’.

Fill out the online application form, select your campus and hit the ‘Submit’ button.

How much you pay is determined by the course you enrol in, the scheduled hours you commit to undertake, your eligibility for a government-funded place and any concession entitlements you might be eligible for.

Study now, pay later with VET Student Loans.

A student loan scheme is available for eligible students and courses to assist in the payment of tuition fees whilst studying at TAFE. These are called VET Student Loans and replace the VET FEE-HELP scheme from 1 January 2017. Loans are capped according to the course you are studying. These loans are income contingent and interest free and repaid via the Australian Taxation Office when your income reaches a certain threshold. For 2016-2017 income year this threshold is $54,869.

You will still have to pay the student services fee, materials and consumables fee (if studying a government funded course) and other non-tuition fees (if applicable) at the time of enrolment. To be eligible for a VET Student Loan, you must be an Australian citizen; or a holder of a permanent humanitarian visa who will be a resident in Australia for the duration of the course; or a qualifying New Zealand citizen.

Part payment plans.

Part payment plans are available to anyone enrolling into a certificate course. Bendigo TAFE offers eligible students the option of paying their course fees over time. Weekly or fortnightly instalment payments are set up to cover tuition, material and consumable fees.

Certificate II in Information, Digital Media and Technology

Course Code ICT20115 Direct entry / Semester one

After learning how to operate a personal computer, you will be guided through the use of various computer packages, learning how to work effectively in an IT environment.

You will also learn about workplace communication, safe work practices and other useful things that blend with a variety of other course outcomes, no matter what your profession or longer-term career aspirations are.

This course is a great place to get started if you want to develop better than average technology skills for your profession or as a small business operator. It is also the starting point if you want to take the IT sector seriously and go on to specialty IT streams at higher levels.

Duration Full-time: 6 months

Selection Process Interview

Career Opportunities On successfully completing this course you will have the knowledge and skills to provide basic diagnostic support to others using computers in small and large organisations, as well as in designing, installing, configuring, customising and managing a computer network, and implementing business objectives. You will be eligible for employment in computer support roles such as technical officer, customer service and help desk officer.

Further Study Options Students may progress into the Certificate III in Information Digital Media and Technology (ICT30115) course at Bendigo TAFE.

Prerequisites There are no entry requirements for this qualification. Applicants must be able to demonstrate competency in basic written and spoken English.

You will need to be comfortable operating a computer such as saving files and creating folders. Some basic ability to use a word processing program will be of assistance. Internet access is essential.

Further your IT skills and career with this course that will provide you with the knowledge to install and administer networks and servers, programming and web development either as an independent information and communications technology (ICT) specialist or as part of a team within an organisation.

This course is offered as a dual qualification and students will need to complete three further units from the Certificate IV in Information Technology Networking to achieve both the Certificate IV in Computer Systems Technology and the Certificate IV in Information Technology Networking.

The Victorian Certificate of Applied Learning (VCAL) is a senior school certificate that focuses on hands-on learning and practical skills, supported by tutors, mentors and Koori community elders.
