Hands-On ExperienceStudents have worked in groups onissues like the economics of globalwarming, regional economic trends,public health initiatives, local and stateeconomic policy reform and economicimpacts and market evaluation.Students who plan to pursue graduatework in economics have completedcapstone projects in mathematicaleconomics, and international studentshave studied economic policy issues intheir home countries. Other studentswith a deep interest in finance haveexplored the economics of derivativesmarkets or foreign exchange markets.

Study AbroadThrough our international businesseducation program, students canstudy business and economics in 19different countries.

Research OpportunitiesAll business economics students havethe opportunity to work one-on-onewith professors on fascinatingresearch projects, gaining in-depthknowledge for their careers orgraduate school. Our students gainreal-world experience with work onprojects through the economicsdepartment’s Chippewa Valley Centerfor Economic Research andDevelopment, which provides expertanalysis to businesses, governmentagencies and non-profits in the EauClaire region.The economics faculty has in-depthexperience in international economics.(For example, during a recent summer,six faculty members pursued researchinterests abroad — two in Europe,three in Asia and one in Africa.) Basedon this faculty experience, we offerseveral courses with an internationalfocus. In addition, our facultymembers have led students in coursesand research projects in Argentina,

Nicaragua, Germany and China.
