AntonBUILDING HIGH-PERFORMING TEAMS
Introduction
Leaders must create and recreate the vision and ultimately guide team
spirit
Define a very clear picture of the future – a vision for the team
Be genuine, even if it means lowering your guard
reveal vulnerabilities to gain respect
High-impact leaders know when to reveal their vulnerabilities
Ask good questions
Use the simple formula of the 70-20-10 rule in conversations:
70% listening
20 % enquiring
10% summarizing
Truly effective communication is unnatural
Talk about things – even the hard things
- the “let’s not go there” issues
Teams are dysfunctional by the amount of stuff not talked about
Follow through on commitments
Leaders hold teams accountable by sharing a clear vision
Let others speak first
Leaders can put others’ needs to express their agenda ahead of their own
Listen
Honor creative ideas by stopping behavior that cuts others off
Face up to non-performing players
Maintaining unity through “passionate champions” is critical
Have fun, but never at others’ expense
Leaders of high-performing teams encourage themselves and their team to always take
the high road
Be confident and dependable
Your leader will always protect you with honesty & integrity
