Every year the school is highly oversubscribed for the170 Year 7 places that we offer. We want every student to exceed their potentialand so have very high expectations of all. As aresult the school has a proven success record,which has been recognised by the governmentand by other educational bodies. Studentsprogress from Bushey Meads into some of thebest universities in the country. This is achieved

by working in close partnership with the widerschool community. Our achievements are evidentin more than examination results; studentsparticipate in many extra-curricular activities –sport, drama, the arts and the specialisttechnology areas. Many have been winners innational competitions.

As a SpecialistTechnology College we also ensure that allstudents follow Design Technology andInformation Technology so students develophigh-level skills in the ‘new technologies’appropriate to the fast-changing world that istheir future. We promote personal learning andthinking skills and the social and emotionalaspects of learning.

Bushey Meads encourages all students toparticipate in community projects. We workclosely with those around us, we share ourresources and encourage them to becomeinvolved with us in a variety of ways. As well asour regular consultation evenings, we inviteparents/carers in for specialist evenings wheretogether we consider how they can best support

their children’s education. We give them openand direct access to the Headteacher through ourParents’ Focus Group. We want our students togrow up as good citizens, with a commitment tothe wider community as well as to their ownfamilies and their school.

Bushey Meads is an inclusive comprehensiveschool where all young people in the localcommunity can succeed. We have a specialistunit designated for students with physical andneurological impairments, which has beenrecognised locally and nationally as a centre of

excellence. These students are at the heart theschool. All are fully integrated into the curriculumand their inclusion fosters a caring and empatheticethos throughout the school community.
