Although the Google brand new flight vertical portal is only active in US, worldwide release is expected from the second half of 2012. This represents a threat for Burundi Flight.

IATA codes are today part of the indexation rules, as they offer a good signal for flight results.Example can be seen in the query “flights to Birmingham” where BF ranks better than

URL naming convention that matters!

Ranking results have been collected on the 7th of January

Skyscanner that can be found on position 3, or for “Flights Edinburgh to London”, where Skycanner ranks on the first two positions whereas BF immediately after.

A new URLs naming convention should be adopted for these URLs.

Usability issues

When a flight combination is not found, alternatives should be proposed with relevant results straight away and above the fold.

A video can be a great way to leverage traffic on site as well an element to be embedded in sites to facilitate content generation.

Many platforms are available. Using YouTube may be an interesting choice thanks to the channels that can offer graphical customizations being able to leverage the brand awareness.

In order to increase the number of thematic backlinks, blogging on third parties sites as contributors may be a good solution.

The guest post will contribute to the content freshness aspect whereas your site may increase the number of inbound backlinks.
