DATES TO REMEMBER
YEAR 6 FUNDRAISING EVENT - OLYMP-A-THON As part of the major Year 6 Fundraising event for 2016, Year 6 will be staging an Olymp-a-thon, instead of a walk-a-thon, during Education Week. Year 6 students will be acting as the ‘Olympic Officials’ during this event. Classes will engage in Olympic style events e.g discus = Frisbees and earn points for their Country. There will be an opening ceremony during which classes will march as representatives of their designated country, followed by an Olympic torch relay. Students are asked to support Year 6 in this exciting Olymp-a-thon by obtaining sponsors. Students will complete a series of events and we ask that the sponsorship is one amount for completing the day. Sponsorship forms will come home tomorrow. LMBR – Learning Management and Business Reform A reminder that training for administration is continuing therefore our school office will still have limited staff during the rest of the term and most of Term 3. We ask for your patience and understanding during this time of change and development. Excursion/Incursion Payments and Permission Notes Year 1 and Year 2 payment for Field of Mars ($30) and Semester 2 Band Fees ($280) are due by next Wednesday, 29th June 2016. All other excursions/incursions for Term 3 are due by Wednesday, 27th July 2016. Multicultural Competition Congratulations to our Year 5&6 representatives. It is wonderful to receive such positive feedback on our student’s delightful behaviour and outstanding performances. Both H.Garbutt and V. Dimov presented their speeches and the impromptu speech delighting the audience. I am sure these great public speaking skills will be well used throughout their high school years. Short Story Competition In week 7, we held our first “Short Story Writing Competition” here at the Burnside OOSH centre.
Children were encouraged to use their creative and critical thinking skills in order to come up with an
interesting story which demonstrates how we could practice “good manners” and show respect towards our
peers, family, friends or teachers. Every one of the story book we received from our children displayed so
much creativity and great story writing. So thank you and congratulations to all our writers who
participated in our first writing competition.

child/children in for our Winter Vacation Care Program. Please call Julia at 0418-411-636 or email
