• Must have NO significant food allergies or dietary restrictions & work with ALL ingredients.

• Must maintain short, clean fingernails.



What do I need to bring to class everyday?

• Pocket folder, binder or backpack to organize your class materials.

• Pen or pencil• A willingness to join in the culinary adventure….

Attendance Policy

• Daily attendance is the best way to earn a good grade in this class.

• Maximum 15 days absent for 1 year class. See BCHS handbook for details.

If you are tardy…..

Bringing a pass from the teacher or staff member you were with means the tardy will be excused.

If you are going to be late, ASK for a pass!

If you have a pass, leave it on my desk please.Avoid disciplinary consequences, BE ON TIME!



If you are absent…..

It is your responsibility to make up all assignments after any absence.

See your teacher after school to get the exact details of what you missed.

Students have 1 week from date of absence to make up all work missed during their absence.



Don’t think about cutting class.. As per Board Policy 5200,

students who cut 4 classes in a yearly course will not receive credit for the class, even if they are earning a passing grade.

Students who miss class due to cuts are not permitted to make up work.

Every student will have access to Rouxbe, both at school and at home.

Super method to maximize culinary instruction & opportunity!!



Warm up Activities…..

• Begin the warm up activity immediately upon entering the room.

• Warm up activities count for a grade – so don’t delay…



Homework • Homework must be turned

in on time to be graded for full credit.

• Students who do not turn in homework or do not earn a passing grade on their homework must attend Home Work Camp which is held every WEDNESDAY after school from 2:35 – 3:15 pm with Mrs. Liv.

Homework supports the BCHS initiatives in Math & Language Arts Literacy to meet Board of Education goals for student growth.



Homework, yes – homework!• Do you need extra help with homework? Do you

need more structure to make time to get your homework or projects done? – Home Work Camp on Wednesdays, after school from

2:30 – 3:15 PM, room F-190, Culinary Lab. – Homework Club – Monday - Thursday after school

from 2:30 – 3:25 PM, room B-231.



Our Daily Routine• Sit in your assigned seat.• Greet your fellow

students….• Begin the warm up

activity immediately upon entering the classroom – it counts toward your grade and is an important part in making the best use of our time in the culinary lab.



Our Daily Routine• You’re not permitted to

wander around or exit the culinary lab.

• At the end of class, push your chair in, check for your belongings and make sure your area is clean & neat.

• Assignments are to be put in the correct class envelope.

• Heading for all assignments:– Name & Date– Class & period



Restroom Use

• If you want to use the restroom, bring your agenda book or a pass to me filled out and wait for me to sign it. Permission to leave the room is considered a privilege. Anyone who abuses the privilege (gone more that 5 minutes, being disruptive in the hallways, etc.) will not be permitted to leave the classroom.

• Lavatory use in not permitted during the first or last 10 minutes of class.

• Please attend to personal needs before coming to class.



Restroom Use

• Chart on the file cabinet by my printer provides the correct times the Lavatory is open. Of course, see me if you have an emergency.



Classroom Environment

• Our room is a reflection of both the teacher & students. • Keep your belongings put away safely & in neat order.• The floor is to be picked up, equipment is to be put away

and the kitchen is to be left clean. • Towel Snapping is not permitted. This is a safety issue.

– “Automatic F” for lab grade & will be a discipline referral.

• Please use polite speech and table manners.• NO Food leaves the culinary lab.

– Pick up leftovers after school.



When the Fire Alarm sounds….• Turn off all cook top burners

& close windows.• Gather your belongings and

leave the classroom quietly.• Turn right after you leave the

culinary lab and exit by the auditorium door.

• Please meet me out in front of the high school. This is required for grade.



Code Blue…………...• Turn right out the classroom

door and head to the main office.

• Take the main office hallway to the “C-Wing” hallway

• Then on past ROTC, the old Auto & Wood Shops to the Big Gym.

• We will sit together as a class until we return to our room.



All the other Codes – Red, Yellow…

• Follow teacher directions when code is announced.

• Mandatory cooperation during all drills & codes. This is Board policy.

fill it out!



Responding to Interruptions

• When someone comes into our classroom– sit quietly and wait until

Mrs. Liv is done dealing with this interruption.

• Responding to PA announcements/Phone calls: – students should

immediately stop talking and remain in their seats or kitchens.



PLEASE ~ Know these “NO’s”…

• No hats in class, they get dirty!• No cell phones• No profanity• No eating or drinking in class, unless we’re cooking

the food…...• No distractions to our learning environment.



If I am ever absent…….Please give my substitute every

courtesy you extend to me.

No food or drink when I am absent.

Students who behave inappropriately will

face both grade penalties and

discipline referrals upon my return.
