“Ottawa Tulip Festival features over 300,000 Tulips”

The Canadian Tulip Festival has grown to become the largest Tulip Festival in the world. It preserves the local heritage of Canada’s role in freeing the Dutch during World War II, and the symbolic tulip; a gift in perpetuity to the Canadian people for providing a safe harbour to the Dutch Royal Family at that time.

Tonight you will have time to explore on your own and top off your evening with Dinner at one of the 88 Restaurants to choose from. May 15: After a full Breakfast at the Hotel (Included) a local Costume Guide portraying a “Historical Character” will board our Coach and show us the Highlights of our Nation’s Capital including a “Special Stop” at the Home of the Governor General of Canada “Rideau Hall”. This has been the home of the Queen’s representative of Canada and home away from home for visiting dignitaries since 1867. To top off the morning Tour we will experience a living tribute to Canadian heritage & history and be charmed by the beauty and elegance of the thoroughbred horses as we visit the RCMP training ground & stables used in preparation for the famous Musical Ride. Our last Stop will be “Commissioners Park” where you can view 300,000 Tulips in bloom!!! You will have ample time to stroll along and enjoy the colorful Tulips so be sure to have your camera ready!! We will say our Good- Byes to our wonderful Tour Guide and make our way to the By Ward Market where you can have lunch on your own. This afternoon you will have time to explore the Old Market and the Historic downtown area of Ottawa. This evening I have arranged a Group Dinner within walking distance of the Hotel (included). As the largest City in New England, Boston is regarded as the unofficial “Capital of New England” for its economic and cultural impact on the entire New England region.Arriving mid-morning there will be free time for shopping and lunch on your own at QUINCY MARKET. For over 250 years the marketplace has played an integral role in the life of Boston’s residents. You will feel the cobblestones beneath your feet, see roaming performers and be able to taste the wonderfully diverse ethnic foods available to you. There are 100 shops, carts and artisans that offer treasures for you to take home with you.Early Afternoon – It’s time for BOSTON’S STOCKING STUFFER TOUR. This is a fun and Spirited Way to enjoy the holidays in the City! (4 stocking gifts and a stocking for everyone)A visit to OLD NORTH CHURCH is included. This is the site where a sexton (a person who takes care of a Church and rings the bells, etc.) Robert Newman climbed the steeple to hang the two lanterns which were the signal to PAUL REVERE. It was the warning that the BRITISH were marching upon Lexington and

Concord to seize the colonialist’s military stores there. This led to the “shot Heard around the world” in Concord and started the American Revolution on that fateful night of April 18, 1775. The Church was built in 1723 and is the oldest Church in Boston, is still in operation and has an active congregation.Late afternoon we will check into the Colonnade Hotel for a two night stay. Our Local Guide will meet us here at the Hotel for our evening activities..

A Group Dinner will be included this evening along with the Christmas Event we have all been waiting for, perhaps the one that best signals the official kick off to the holiday season the lighting of the City’s official “CHRISTMAS TREE” on the Boston Commons. This Tree Lighting is always a local event, covered live on TV, featuring special guests.. The Balsam Fir is annually donated to the City of Boston BY NOVA SCOTIA. 2017 MARKS THE 46th YEAR that this CANADIAN PROVINCE has given a Tree to the people of Boston as thanks for relief efforts following the DECEMBER 6, 1917 (100 YEARS AGO) explosion of a munitions ship in the HalifaxHarbour. Within 24 hours of the disaster a Train loaded with supplies & emergency personnel was making its way from Boston to Halifax, Nova Scotia.ENJOY the EVENING and take home lots of Memories!!Friday December 1 st : Breakfast is included at your Hotel this Morning prior to our 2nd day of adventure in Historical Boston. Our Local Guide will meet us this AM and we will begin our day with the BEACON HILL PRIVATE HOMES HOLIDAY HOUSE TOUR.
