Abdul Hamid inaugurated newly constructed academic and administrative building on 25 Sep 2013.

Ministers, Members of Parliament, Chief of three services, Vice Chancellor of different universities,

Diplomats along with many civil and military personnel were present on the occasion.

Vice Chancellor’s Note It is a matter of great satisfaction that Bangladesh

University of Professionals (BUP) is bringing out

its first issue of newsletter. BUP has started its

journey from 2008 with the motto “Excellence

Through Knowledge”. Keeping this motto ahead

BUP is marching forward to achieve its goal. It is

our pride that within a short span of time about

4000 students have been graduated from this

university in various fields. My heart fills with

pride and immense pleasure when I come to know

that our graduates are well placed at home and

abroad. BUP tries to groom its students with the

sense of self discipline, punctuality, social and ethical values, industriousness and perseverance to

embrace the realities and challenges of modern life. I sincerely appreciate the noble efforts of faculties

and officials in this connection. I convey my heartfelt thanks and felicitation to the editorial board for

its efforts in publishing the first issue. I hope that such endeavors would continue in future as well.

Seminar on: “Contribution of Readymade Garments”

Fruit Festival 2013 A colorful display of various local fruits was arranged by BUP

Business graduates on 06 July 2013 in BUP plaza. Vice

Chancellor Maj Gen Sheikh Mamun Khaled, psc was present

on the occasion as chief guest. All officers, teachers, staffs, &

students enjoyed the taste of fruits and fruit punch.

Faculty of Business Studies organized a seminar on

“Contribution of Readymade Garments Industries in

Economy of Bangladesh and it’s sustainability in

Present Situation” on 07 July 2013. Mr Anisul Haque

ex president of FBCCI & BGMEA was present as

chief guest and delivered his valuable speech

highlighting the reasons of present success in

garments industries of Bangladesh and its future

prospects.

Consulate of Malta call on Vice Chancellor

Mr Shoyeb Chowdhury consulate of Malta in Dhaka

made a courtesy call with vice chancellor Maj Gen

Sheikh Mamun Khaled, psc on 03 July 2013 at

Bangladesh University of Professionals. They exchanged

their views on various aspects Vice Chancellor presented

a crest of BUP to the Consulate.

Iftar Party

BUP arranged a “Iftar Party” on 28 July 2013 in

the month of Ramadan. Vice Chancellor Maj Gen

Sheikh Mamun Khaled, psc, Registrar, Treasurer,

Controller of Examinations, all Deans, Inspector

of Colleges, Officers, Teachers, Staffs and

students attended the Iftar Party. A special “Doa”

was conducted for overall peace & prosperity of

the country.

BUP observed the National Mourning day

on 15 August 2013 with the deepest respect

and emotion on the occasion of the 38th

death anniversary of his martyrdom, Father of

the Nation, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur

Rahman. A discussion was conducted on

Bangabandhu’s autobiography highlighting

the life, struggle and achievements of the

greatest Bengali leader.

National Mourning Day

A workshop was conducted by Faculty of Business Studies on “Career

Counseling and CV Writing” on 20 Aug 2013. Career counseling part

was conducted by Mr Asif Aynul Huq, Advisor in Human Resources.

CV writing part was conducted by Ms Humayara Latifa Ahmed,

Academician in Human Resources. All students of BBA 1 & 2 and

MBA 13 & 14 attended the timely required workshop.

Visit Walton Bangladesh Ltd.

Students of Faculty of Business Studies (BBA-3) visited Walton

Bangladesh Ltd on 30 Aug 2013 at Chandra, Gazipur. Students

earned practical knowledge on administration, production &

marketing of Walton products.

Students of BBA 1 & 2 and MBA 13 of Faculty of Business

Studies (FBS) visited Export Processing Zone, Dhaka on 12

Sep 2013. Faculty members and staffs of FBS also accompa-

nied them.

Bangladesh University of Professionals organized a cultural evening on 07 Oct 2013. All faculty members

and officers including Vice Chancellor were present with families.

On 5 Sep 2013 Defense Attaché of American

Embassy in Bangladesh Mr Lance E Jacobs paid a

The 30th National mourning day of the father of the nation was observed at BUP on 15 August, 2011. A discussion meeting was held where the speakers spoke on the life, achievements and contribution of the father of the Nation Ban-gabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. All students,

Intra Batch Football Tournament of BUP

The fourth intra batch football tournament final match took place at the university playground on 31

September 2013. In the final match Master of Business Administration-14 team defeated Bachelor of

Business Studies-2 team by 4-1 goal. Vice Chancellor Major General Major General Sheikh Mamun

Khaled, psc, Treasurer, Deans, Controller of Examinations, Inspector of Colleges, teachers, students and all

officers were present in the final match. At the end of the match, respected VC distributed medal amongst

the participants and champion trophy to the team captain of MBA-14.

Armed Forces Day Observed

observed Armed Forces Day on 21 Nov

2013. All members of BUP with their

families attended a “Pritivoz’ at BUP plaza.

On 16 Dec 2013, victory day was observed at BUP

campus. The day started with special prayer for the

departed soul who sacrificed their lives for the

independence of the country. A cultural program

followed by “Pritivoz” was arranged at BUP. All

members of BUP including students attended the

cultural program in “Bijoy auditorium” and

Inauguration of Cafeteria Vista

Inauguration of BUP Cafe “Vista” was held on

29 December 2013. Vice Chancellor of BUP

Maj Gen Sheikh Mamun Khaled, psc

inaugurated the cafe. Treasurer, Registrar,

Deans, Controller of Examinations, Inspector

of Colleges, Faculty Members, Officers and all

other members of BUP were present in this

program.

Training on Effective Teaching “A Comprehensive Training on Effective Teaching”

was organized by Faculty of Business Studies for a

duration of two weeks from 06 Dec 2013 to 20 Dec

203. Prof. Dr. M Nazmul Haq, Institute of Education

and Research, University of Dhaka conducted the

said training. The main objective of this training was

to make aware the young faculties about the effective

teaching techniques and effective classroom

management. Vice Chancellor distributed certificates

among the participants.
