Edward Buncombe• Edward Buncombe was a soldier in the American Revolution for

independence from the English between 1775-1781. He was from Tyrell County in the Coastal Plain.

• Colonel Buncombe was wounded at the Battle of Germantown outside Philadelphia, Pennsylvania while serving under General George Washington.

• He later fell while sleepwalking and opened up his wounds and bled to death.

• He is buried in an unmarked grave at Christ Episcopal Church in Philadelphia.
