Sales Table: A reminder that all your orchid needs can be obtained through the Club on meeting
mornings. If you need to pre-order any orchid bark or Perlite, please contact Norm Martin. All other supplies such as pots, fertilisers, orchid clips, hanging pots, etc will be available on meeting morning.
Morning tea Schedule for monthly meetings A schedule is being organised to share the morning tea duties. Please see Derise if you are able to assist with setting up morning tea, providing light morning tea and cleaning up afterwards. Please phone Derease 0412884937. We only need a couple of volunteers each month and a couple of packets of Biscuits would be fine.
Bunnings Sausage Sizzle was held on Sunday 16th July.
A successful morning enjoyed by all members at our annual Soup Kitchen. Thanks to those members who provided all the delicious soups. The variety was exceptional.
Winter Show: Any members who are holding Winter Show trophies, please arrange to have them
returned to the Secretary.
Winter Show dates: July 28 & 29 & 30th (set up 6.30 p.m. on Friday 28th July) Location will be at the Australind Hall, behind the shops. Plant entries can be made on Saturday morning between 8.00 a.m. and 9.00 a.m. Judging will commence at 9.00 a.m. and cease at 11.00 a.m. General public will have admission after 11.00 a.m. on Saturday. The Show will be open on Sunday 30th July between 10.a.m. and 3.00 p.m. Help is needed for the Winter show on the 29th and 30th July to man the display and deal with public enquiries. Please phone Marg Nelson on 97341343 to offer your assistance.
Spring Show: September 15, 16 & 17 (set up on 15th September) Location will be at the Italian Club.

July Monthly Meeting 2nd July 2017
July meeting of the Bunbury Orchid Society was held in the Australind Hall commencing at 10am.
President Rick opened the meeting welcoming members and recognizing life members in attendance.
Attendance book was signed and apologies noted.
Minutes of the June meetings were issued with the Orchid Talk.

President Rick will also do the acquittal for Lottery West grant that was for the Challenge in Busselton last year.

Norm has run out of some stock for the club sales pots etc. Ian Gilmore offered to check on pot prices.
Brian Harwood brought up the need for somebody to get the trestles from the shed for the Winter Show, he may
not be available.
Also Trophies need to be returned.
Rick Winch will do the advertising for the Winter Show through Face book. GWN and also the local newspapers.
Set up for the Winter Show at the Australind Hall is 6.30pm on Friday 28th July. Plants to be entered between 8am
and 9am on the Saturday 29th and open to the public. 11am to 4pm and 10am to 3pm on Sunday the 30th.
Sausage Sizzle is at Bunnings main store in Bunbury on the 16th July commencing at 7am.
It was decided by the Committee to book in advance the Italian Club for our Spring show for the next three years.
Lyn Harwood will look into this.
We have 13 bays booked for this years Spring Show in September. So moving along nicely.
President Rick will look at the design for the flyers for the show and Brian Harwood will contact A & L Printers for
the printer.
A Busy Bee is needed to assemble the Champion table that Perth is borrowing for the Orchid Spectacular, see
Brian Harwood about this.
Ferris wheel for the Bunbury Orchid Society display at the Orchid Spectacular is nearly finished and Lyn Harwood
is to buy some material and sew it for the back drop.
Hire of a truck to transport Orchids,Championship table and display needs to be arranged. Brian Harwood will
look into this. We also need a driver for the truck who will be available for the weekend in August.
Bunbury Orchid Society has agreed to sponsor the Vandeae class as the Floral art class has been taken. This offers
a prize of $100.00
It was made mention that the club seedling completion is not being well supported.
Ken Merryfull was presented with his awards and vouchers that he won for the Autumn Show.
Popular vote – Open Wally Heath. Novice Bill Dear.
Wally Heath also won the Judges Award with his Orchid Den Avrils Gold.
Winners of the raffle were Bill Dear and Andrea Shine.
Lucky Number was won by Wally Heath.
Mike Baker gave a very informative talk about club seedlings and also about plant presentation.
Wally Heath was asked about the growing conditions that his Den Avrils Gold was grown in and how he treated
his Orchids.
Rick Winch thanked Derease Mead and the ladies for their help with the soup kitchen that was enjoyed by all.
