ITT Chairman, Steven Freudmann, revealed the destination for the 2016 ITT Conference at the ITT President’s Dinner held at The Dorchester in October.

Tel Aviv – the second largest city in Israel – is a modern, vibrant, party city. It boasts 16 beaches, over 20 museums and its UNESCO-designated Bauhaus architecture has won the city the title of “The White City”. Also known as the “City that never sleeps” it will be sure to appeal to the night owls amongst you!

Steven Freudmann said “There are many criteria that countries have to meet to host the ITT Conference but the biggest and most important is the appetite, the hunger and the desire of the host country to want to welcome us. Frankly it’s years since I’ve seen a destination so enthusiastic as Israel at the thought of hosting a major UK travel conference.”

Delegates will be offered a reduced rate for flights and accommodation with return economy flights available from £295 including taxes and Business Class from £750, including taxes, with Israel’s national carrier EL AL. Boris Johnson kicked off a recent trade mission to the Middle East with a passionate speech in support of Israel. Speaking in Tel Aviv, the Mayor of London said he had always believed “fervently” in the country he first visited as a young man and pointed out that Israel is the only democracy in the region.

Richard Prosser, the Chairman of Audley Travel will be the guest speaker at the first Odyssey Supper of 2016, taking place on 4 February. The audience at the Suppers typically spans travel industry professionals as well as experts working with the sector, welcoming ITT Members and non-members alike.

After leaving TUI Travel in 2010, Richard has established a portfolio career, mainly focussed on advising, and investing in, private equity backed businesses. PASSPORT INFORMATION

British nationals do not need a Visa to enter Israel as a tourist. On entry, visitors are granted leave to enter for a period of up to three months.

Since January 2013, a scheme has been introduced whereby visitors are given an entry card instead of an entry stamp on arrival. You should keep this card with your passport until you leave. Your passport will not be stamped.

Your passport should be valid for a minimum period of six months from the date of entry into Israel.

Thank you to all those ITT Members who attended the inaugural ITT Lecture in September. It was a fantastic evening held in the unique Durham Street Auditorium at The RSA – a historic masterpiece that was the original trade tunnel, channelling its way underneath RSA House all the way down to the Thames.

ITT’s sincere thanks go to the Chief Executive of The RSA, Matthew Taylor, who delivered such an entertaining speech on enlightened tourism and the power of doing something different.

The ITT Lecture will return to RSA House on 22 September 2016 with ITT Lecture being presented by the Chairman of ACAS, Sir Brendan Barber.

ITT Members and guests enjoyed a fabulous evening at the Dorchester in October. The event included the announcement of the 2016 Conference destination and presentation of the prestigious Odyssey Award.

This year’s recipient of the Odyssey Award was the Chairman of Carnival UK, David Dingle. David, who first joined P&O back in 1978, was presented with the award by Champa Magesh, Managing Director of Amadeus UK.

During the evening, ITT Board Director Stephen Bath took to the stage to announce that he and fellow ITT Members Steve Endacott, Wayne Perks and Matt Walker had raised an amazing £35,176.94 for Alder Hey Children’s Charity when they climbed Kilimanjaro in September.

A further £2,780 was raised for the charity during the evening via a prize draw which saw Joanna Kolatsis become the lucky owner of a TAG HEUER Carrera Calibre 5 Automatic Stainless Steel watch, which was kindly donated by David M Robinson Jewellers, bringing the total raised for Alder Hey so far by ITT and its Members in 2015 to a whopping £75,954.94.

ITT Future You, the UK’s leading student travel and tourism conference, once again took place at World Travel Market London. With over 450 students in attendance and now in its 7th year at WTM, ITT Future You featured presentations from a range of inspiring speakers and well-known travel and tourism brands.

Moderated by ITT Board Director, Danny Waine, the event featured an insight into careers in the industry from Rob Zajko (Director of Talent Acquisition, Hilton Worldwide) and a personal story from rising star, Sam Wrigglesworth (Head of Product Development, Blue Chip Holidays).

This year, for the first time, ITT Future You included a highly-successful Careers and Networking Fair, giving students an opportunity to meet with industry and explore job opportunities, as well as winning prizes.
