Free Webinar: Ceramics--a synthetic, nonsilica alternative for metalcasting (Sponsored by Carbo Industrial Technologies) Ceramics present a viable alternative for replacing silica sand in the metalcasting industry. This presentation will provide an overview of ceramics casting media. It will describe the make-up of ceramics and the key to their performance attributes versus silica sand for metal castings. The presenter Claude Krause isdevelopment manager for Carbo Industrial Technologies. He will show how the ceramic attributes impact the casting in use performance. He will also describe various approaches underway to achieve a full conversion from silica sand to ceramics with an ultimate goal of meeting the new silica PEL regulations. Attendees will see various value points that offset purchase price deficits and cost performance advantages of the synthetic, technically engineered ceramics.
