    SNAP Test for Symbiosis Postgraduate Programmes

    Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a common written test for the admission to all Post-Graduate Institutes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University)It is a mandatory written test for admission into any Post-Graduate programme offered by theConstituent Institutes of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).However, it is only the first step. In addition, a candidate has to undergo the selection process ofthe desired Institute to qualify for the admission to the Post-Graduate programmes of thatInstitute. A student aspiring to do higher studies at Symbiosis International(Deemed University) needs to do the following:

    Stage-1: SNAP Test

    Register online at www.snaptest.org

    You need to upload a latest scanned photograph of own at the time of SNAP OnlineRegistration.

    Follow the instructions for payment of Test fee of Rs. 1500/- on this website. Any Changes in the online application form may be made only till the closing

    date of Registration, November 24, 2009 Tuesday. No change is permitted inany data in any of the categories after Tuesday, November 24, 2009, under anycircumstances.

    All disputes between candidate and the Symbiosis Test Secretariat shall besubject to exclusive jurisdiction of Pune city and by Arbitrator only.

    From Dec 7, 2009, Monday onwards till Dec 20,2009, print Admit Card from thewebsite.[www.snaptest.org]

    Bring the Admit Card along with Photo Identity proof to the Test Center.

    (Candidates should note that authenticated Admit Card is an important documentwithout which the candidate will not be permitted to appear for further selectionprocesses of the institutes. If the Admit card is lost, no duplicate Admit Card willbe issued. It should be preserved till all processes are over).

    Appear for the Test.

    SNAP Score will remain valid for admission to all Post Graduate Programmes ofSymbiosis International (Deemed University) for the academic year of 2010-11.

    Stage-2: Submit Application fee to the desired constituent institutes of SymbiosisInternational (Deemed University)

    Pay Rs.1000/- as Institute Application fee to the chosen institutes as instructionsgiven on institute website.

    To apply to an institute a candidate must register for the SNAP 2009.

    The SNAP website allows a facility for online payment for application fee for many ofthese institutes along with online payment of SNAP fee. Complete the applicationprocedure of the desired institute.

    Candidate may also apply from the institute website.

    Candidate can apply to more than one institute.

    Stage-3: Attend the call for further selection process of the chosen institutes.

    Each institute has its own method for arriving at a cutoff, depending on its focusedfield as mentioned in the prospectus. For example, one Institute may have lowerimportance for Quantitative Section while some other Institute may have a higherimportance for the same section.

    The institutes will announce a short list for attending further selection process.

    The individual institutes as per their schedules will announce admission results.

    Important

    Mere scoring in the SNAP Test does not entitle any right to the candidate to be called

    for further selection process [e.g. group discussion, personal interview] of admissionto any Symbiosis Institute.

    While adequate care is taken in ensuring that there are no mistakes in reading theanswer sheet by the scanning machine, there is no provision of revaluation of theanswer sheet of any candidate.

    The scores published by the Symbiosis Test Secretariat shall be final and shall notbe subject to any appeal or revaluation.

    The SNAP Score card will be available on the website for a period of one month fromthe date of declaration of results i.e. up to February 12, 2010 Friday.A candidate may take a print-out of the result.

    Payment of Fees through Demand Draft / Cash.

    Those candidates paying through cash or DD, should ensure the following

    1. Axis Bank Challan for cash payment, or2. Demand Drafts and Payment Advice Form for Demand Draft payment.

    Get a demand draft for Rs. 1500/- from any Nationalize Bank in favor of

    Symbiosis Test Secretariat. Payable at Pune.

    Should reach Symbiosis Test Secretariat by December 1, 2009 Tuesday.

    Symbiosis Test Secretariat will not be held responsible for non-delivery or anydelay on the part of Courier / Postal Services.

    SNAP Test Structure

    SNAP Test duration is 120 minutes.

    SNAP Test is an objective test. Each question has 4 responses. Candidate shouldchoose an appropriate response.

    Each wrong answer attracts 25% negative marks.

    How to Register For SNAP 2009

    Step 1. Register for SNAP Test at www.snaptest.orgYou need to upload a latest scanned photograph of own at the time of online

    registration.This will generate your SNAP ID. For different modes of payment differentPayment Advice formats are created. Choose a payment mode and print aPayment Advice form online.

    Step 2. Pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 1500/- according to the payment mode. Youhave 4 choices.

    PAYMENT THROUGH CASH:

    You may pay cash only at an Axis Bank branch. Print Axis Bank Challanwhich is in 3 parts. Pay Rs. 1500/- in cash at any Axis Bank branch inyour city. Refer to the list of branches on the website. The bank willreturn two stamped parts of the Axis Bank Challan to you. The Studentcopy is your receipt.

    Sign the stamped Symbiosis copy of the Axis Bank Challan form ofAxis Bank and send it to the Symbiosis Test Secretariat at the followingAddress,

    Important:

    SNAP Registration Fee is non-refundable. Please note that claimsfor refund of the SNAP Registration fee will not be entertained on anyaccount.

    At the time of filling online application form or while appearing for SNAPtest, any attempt to impersonate or indulge in any other malpracticewould automatically disqualify the candidate from admission processesof all post graduate programmes of Symbiosis International(Deemed University) and may also lead to any legal action deemed fit.

    Guidelines

    1. Reach the Test Centre latest by 1:00 p.m. The test procedure will start at 1:30 p.m.Candidates reaching after 2:00 p.m. will not be admitted.

    2. Bring the following to the Test Centre:

    a. Admit Card: without which you will not be allowed to take the test.

    b. Photo identity: any one of the following:

    Passport Driving license College/Institute identity card Credit card with photograph. Voter ID Card

    c. Blue/Black ballpoint pen.

    3 Cell phones, calculators, watch calculators, alarm clocks, digital watches with built incalculators/ memory etc. will not be allowed in the examination hall.

    4. Occupy the seat allotted to you by verifying the SEAT NO written on the desk and indicatedin your Admit Card.

    5. The Test Invigilator will check your Admit Card.

    6. The Test booklet will be distributed just before the starting time of the Test. When you getthe test booklet, make sure that the booklet is in sealed condition. If the seal is foundbroken or tampered with, please bring this matter immediately to the notice of the

    invigilator.

    7. At 2:00 p.m. the Test Invigilator will instruct you to open the seals of the test booklet andcommence answering the test.

    8. Check immediately that all the pages of the booklet are in order. In the rare event of theTest Booklet being defective, bring it to the notice of the invigilator immediately who willarrange for the replacement of test booklet if required.

    9. You will get two hours from 2:00p.m. To 4:00 p.m. to answer the questions. Though the testwill have several sections, you are free to work on the sections in any order.

    10. You are not allowed to leave the Hall till the test is over and until the Invigilator collects the

    answer OMR sheet at 4:00 pm. You will be allowed to leave the hall only after the answerOMR sheets of all the candidates in your hall have been collected and accounted for.

    11. Candidates found using any unfair means will forfeit their chance of beingconsidered for admission and will be debarred from receiving SNAP scores.

    12. Invigilator or Symbiosis Test Secretariat Representative will stamp and authenticate yourAdmit Card.

    Please preserve this authenticated Admit Card for further selection processes of individualInstitutes. [Please Note that no duplicate Admit Card will be issued in case it is lost bythe candidate].

    Categories under International Students Admissions:

    Foreign National (FN):(At the Undergraduate / Postgraduate Level):A student is eligible to apply as aForeign National (FN) if he/she holds a foreign passport.

    Person of Indian Origin (PIO):(At the Undergraduate / Postgraduate Level):A student is eligible to apply as a Personof Indian Origin (PIO) if he/she has a PIO card, and is a citizen of a country other thanIndia.

    Non Resident Indian (NRI):(At the Undergraduate Level):A student is eligible to apply as a Non Resident Indian(NRI) if he/she has appeared for the last qualifying exam (equivalent to Indian 10+2)outside India.

    Despite the global recession and market downturn, Symbiosis Institute of Business Management(SIBM), Pune has done well in the Campus Recruitment Programme 2008-09, which reinstates

    the confidence the industry has in our students.

    Recruiters spanning domestic geographies as well as international recruiters participated to hirefrom the pool of best talent.

    Along with the regular recruiters such as Asian Paints, Coca-Cola India, Cognizant, Dabur,Godrej Industries, ITC, Tata Motors and Vodafone, this year was marked by the participation ofnew globalrecruiters like IFFCO Group and Dubai Health Authority, with our long term relationship withProtiviti Inc. still standing.     Eligibility

    A graduate from any statutory university with a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) atgraduation level. Candidates passing degree examination by part time / distance learning /correspondence / open school / externally or in one sitting are not eligible. Final year appearingstudents can apply but their admission will be subject to obtaining a minimum of 50% marks (45%for SC/ST) at qualifying examination.

    Intake

    A total of 180 students shall be selected for the course.

    Reservation within intake

    15% and 7.5% of seats reserved for SC & ST candidates respectively. 3% seats reserved for "differently abled candidates - for blind, hearing impaired (Deaf/dumb)and with orthopedic disorders or mentally retarded candidates" The minimum degree of disabilityshould be40%in order to be eligible under this category. 15% reserved for Management seats-applicants need to comply with all the eligibility norms andapply separately only after the entire process is complete. Appearing for SNAP test and filling ofSIBM form is mandatory.

    SIOM is spread over an area of 2 acres in the industrial area of Nashik where it has a fullyresidential campus. It has an administrative building and two separate hostels for boys andgirls. The administrative building houses all instructional, administrative facilities likegymnasium, yoga hall and a badminton court and other facilities like cafeteria, laundry,stationery, Xerox shop and auditorium.

    Two separate hostels are provided for girls and boys, which have a total capacity toaccommodate students on triple sharing basis in spacious self contained rooms furnishedwith beds, cupboards, study tables etc. Recreation rooms are provided in each of the hostelswhere students can watch TV and play indoor games like Table Tennis, Carom and Chess.Other sports facilities include a basketball court & billiards. Two dining halls have beenprovided where wholesome vegetarian food is served.

    Continuous supply of hot water is ensured by provision of solar water heaters for both thehostels. A 125 KVA generator provides 24 hours electricity to the campus.
