Share Lent 2015 – Responding to the cry of the poor of Brazil In all places and circumstances, Christians, with the help of their pastors, are called to hear the cry of the poor. This has been eloquently stated by the bishops of Brazil: “We wish to take up daily the joy and hopes, the difficulties and sorrows of the Brazilian people … Seeing their poverty, hearing their cries and knowing their sufferings, we are scandalized because we know that there is enough food for everyone and that hunger is the result of a poor distribution of goods and income.” –Pope Francis, The Joy of the Gospel, 191. Your generosity helps fund our partnership with the Brazilian Bishops Pastoral Land Commission, which works to support the rural poor through agricultural development and land reform. You can learn more about our work by picking up Share Lent materials at the back of the Church or by visiting devp.org. The Share Lent collection is on the Fifth Sunday of Lent, March 22.  Consultation for the Synod on the Family 2015 A consultation is underway to prepare for the 2015 Ordinary Synod on the Vocation and Mission of the Family in the Church and the Contemporary World. Everyone is invited to participate. Online survey www.romancatholic.kingston.on.ca For those unable to access the survey electronically, parishes have been asked to make available, on request, hard copies of the questionnaire and the Preparatory Document (Linementa). Copies are also available from the Pastoral Centre: (613) 548-4461. Responses by regular mail are to be sent to the Archdiocese of Kingston 390 Palace Rd. Kingston, ON K7L 4T3. All surveys are to be submitted by March 6.

This is our way of showing solidarity with an initiative of the Holy See called 24 Hours for the Lord, which, in Rome, will take place on March 13th and 14th. You are invited to this special time of adoration and reconciliation.
