Fellowship Night @ Corowa Golf Club
It was a very pleasant night at Corowa Golf Club for our fellowship night last Wednesday. We had twenty five members and guests present for the evening.
Among our guests for the evening were Janet & Chris McLean, Robert & Janet Dickins, Brett Drysdale and Norman O’Flaherty.
The buffet dinner at the Golf Club is very popular with some of our members and it seems that one of our farmer friends really enjoys his dessert. Such a selection of desserts makes it difficult to choose just one. Do you think the three one dollar coins are ready for the next week’s fine session?
Federation Market It just goes to show that a little bit of rain isn’t enough to deter a dedicated Federation Market stall holder. There were plenty of stalls under the shop verandas in the main street. There were plenty of comments on the Corowa Federation Markets Face Book Page, especially about the new stall. Teh-Mac’s Food Corner. They were selling great Asian food, homemade Dim Sims, Spring Rolls, Chicken and Corn Soup and Chilli
Noodles. Their stall was a complete sell-out. Well done guys!
Many of our regulars were in attendance also. Fresh fruit and vegetables, socks, hardware, Julia’s soaps and books, Mrs McKechnie’s cake stall and lots more.
Next month’s market will be held on Sunday, September 6
th.

Rotary Information – August Is Membership Month
Encourage a friend, a work colleague a family member to join Rotary. It is fun, rewarding and so very satisfying. Together we can, we will, we do make a difference.
Who can be a Rotarian? Our diversity is our strength. It doesn't matter if you're a student, a professional, a stay at home parent, a teacher, a doctor, a tradie, retailer or a farmer. We need young and old. If you have something you care about and want to make a difference in your community or the world. We need you!
Do you think you are too busy? Australia has around 32,000 Rotarians and they are all busy people. Most have demanding jobs. A hectic family life, bills to pay, lawns to mow, dishes to wash and dogs to walk. But they still make time to meet regularly and make a difference. You can also make a difference.
District Governors Visit The visit of District Governor Richard Luke is scheduled for August 13
th. As with all
DG visits it is a partners night and it would be hoped we could have an excellent attendance that night to hear what DG Richard has planned for his year.

Paddy says, “Mick I’m thinking of buying a Labrador”. “Oh no” says Mick, “have you seen how many of their owners go blind”
A Truck driver was driving along the freeway. A sign comes up that
reads „Low Bridge Ahead.”
Before he knows it, the bridge is right ahead of him and he gets stuck
under the bridge. Cars are backed up for miles.
Finally a police car comes up. The cop gets out of his car and walks
around to the truck driver, puts his hands on his hips and says, “Got
stuck, huh?” The truck driver says, “No I was delivering this bridge and
ran out of petrol”
Husband is walking behind his wife and says, “Your bottom is getting so big it looks like an old washing machine.” The woman keeps quiet and keeps walking. Bedtime comes around, the husband starts getting amorous. Wife says: “I’m not staring the old washing machine for such a small load. You’ll have to do it by hand.
Alumni I have taken on the role District Chair of Alumni, a new portfolio for District 9790, I would like to encourage all clubs members to assist me with putting together a database of all Rotary Alumni. This is any individuals who have experienced Rotary through various programs, including Interact, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Exchange (outgoing), RYLA, RYPEN, Rotary Peace Fellowships, Vocational Training Teams (members and leaders), Ambassadorial Scholars and Group Study Exchange (leaders and members). By having this database district and our club will be able to better keep in contact with past Alumni members and hopefully get them involved in club and district events. It is also a way for clubs to follow up with these people as potential new members. If any of our members have the details of anyone who has been sent on any of the above programs, could you please pass them on to me. There is to be a Rotary Reconnect Week, 1
st – 8
th of October, which would be a
good time to invite Rotary program participants to reconnect with our club. This will give us a chance to cultivate new member opportunities and to network with proven leaders, and they may discover new ways to give back to Rotary. Our club is lucky to already have three Rotary Alumni as members, being two former Exchange Students in Meredith and Harry and a former GSE participant Stephen.
Attendance and Apologies
Paul is on duty again this week so if you can’t attend our weekly meeting
please ensure that you put in your apology.
If you do not put in an apology, you will be charged for the dinner, as the Club is
charged for your dinner.
Paul can be contacted by phone or text on 0499 878 529, or email
