    SENIORCORNER- SCAMALERT: IRS WONTCALLYOUOUTOFTHEBLUE

One of the more nefarious scams around is the IRSscam as it preys on citizens who fear getting be-hind on their taxes and incurring penalties andfines. Callers claim to be IRS employees, but they

are not. They use fake names and bogus IRS badgenumbers and they may have information abouttheir targets such as the last four digits of theirSocial Security Number, address and phone num-ber. They alter the caller ID to make it look as ifthe IRS is calling. This is easily accomplishedthrough voice calls over an Internet connection. These con artists could be calling from anywherein the world, regardless of the area code victimssee when they pick up the phone.

THEIRS WILLNOT:1. Call to demand immediate payment; they

would mail you a bill first.

    2. Demand that you pay taxes without allowingyou to question or appeal.

    3. Ask you to pay an IRS debt by using a prepaiddebit card.

    4. Require credit card information over the phone.

    5. Threaten to have you arrested.

If you are called from someone claiming to be fromthe IRS and asking for money and you know orthink you might owe taxes, call the IRS at (800)

829-1040. If you do not owe taxes, report the inci-dent to the Treasury Inspector General for TaxAdministration (TIGTA) at (800) 366-4484 or atwww.tigta.gov.

Supper Saturday ~ February 14thLooking for something to do on ValentinesDay? Come join ECYA in watching the new film,Old Fashioned.

In response to the morally and spiritually destruc-tive production of 50 Shades of Grey that is so en-thusiastically embraced by the secular world, wefeel its our responsibility as servants of The Lord tostand up for LOVE and how its lived in God-honoring relationships. Lets shake up the world abit and show them that the public wants REALLOVE!Remember, change starts with us! Couples, singles, and consecrated are all welcome. love into practice. We must devote more time to

praying that God will help us to follow His will in

dealing with each other. The volunteers at the food
