Pilate said to him, "Then you are a king?" Jesus answered, "You say I am a king.”

That exchange between Pilate, the governor of the Roman Empire in Pal-estine, and Jesus, a innocent man delivered to Pilate in chains by the Jewish leaders of his day, seems rather surreal. Pilate knew the charge that Jesus had claimed to be a king was not true. But Pilate could not conceive of a kingdom not of this world, and Jesus was the King of just such a Kingdom. Pilate only knew of a kingdom of man-made law en-forced by tyranny and brutality. Jesus was the herald of a Kingdom of Love. Can there be an example of the extreme differences between a kingdom made by man without God and a Kingdom created for man by God? What is our kingdom? Is it a political system constructed man; a company we helped to build or are dependent upon; a social group; an

athletic team or our family? To the extent that such kingdoms help us to attain the Kingdom of God, they are good. To the extent that such kingdoms lead us away from the God’s Kingdom, they are not good for us.

Prayer to Christ the King

Christ Jesus, I acknowledge You King of the universe. All that has been created

has been made for You. Make full use of Your rights over me. I renew the promises

I made in Baptism, when I renounced Satan and all his pomps and

works, and I promise to live a good Christian life and to do all in my

power to procure the triumph of the rights of God and Your Church. Divine Heart of Jesus, I offer you my efforts in order to

obtain that all hearts may acknowledge your Sacred Royalty,

and that thus the Kingdom of Your peace may be established

throughout the universe.

Amen!

Our Lord Jesus Christ, Kind of the Universe ~ Nuestro Señor Jesucristo, Rey Del Universo

Pilato le dijo: "Entonces, ¿tú eres rey?" Jesús le contestó, "Tú dices que yo soy rey."

Ese intercambio entre Pilato, el gobernador del Imperio Romano en Palestina, y Jesús, un hombre inocente entregado a Pilato en cadenas por los líderes judíos de su día, parece bastante surrealista. Pilato sabía que el cargo de que Jesús había afirmado ser un rey no era cierto. Pero Pilato no podía concebir la existencia de un reino que no es de este mundo, y Jesús era el rey de tal reino. Pilato sólo sabía de un reino hecho por el hom-brede leyes impuesta por la tiranía y la brutalidad. Jesús fue el heraldo de un reino de amor. Puede haber un ejemplo de las diferencias extremas entre un reino hecho por el hombre sin Dios y un reino para el hombre creado por Dios? ¿Cuál es nuestro reino? Es un sistema político construido por el hombre,o una compañía que ayudamos a construir o somos dependientes, un grupo social, un equipo deportivo nuestra familia? En la medida en que esos reinos nos ayudan a alcanzar el reino de Dios, son buenas. En la medida en que esos reinos nos alejan del reino de Dios, no son buenas para nosotros.

El Consejo Pastoral busca nominaciones para

elegir cuatro miembros del periodo 2016-2018.

parroquial antes del 4 de Diciembre, 2015. Se

requiere una breve biografia de cada nomi-

nado. Las Formas pueden encontrarse en el

boletin o sobre la mesa de informacion en la

entrada de la Iglesia. Las elecciones se llevaran

a cabo la primer semana de Enero.

De noble origen y versada en las ciencias, cuando tenia solo 18 años, se presentó ante el empera-dor Maximino, que perseguía violentamente a los cristianos, y le recriminó su crueldad intentando demostrar cuán inicua era laadoración de los dioses falsos. Asombrado por la audacia de la joven, pero incapaz de competir con ella en sabiduría, el tirano la detuvo en su mismo palacio y llamó a numerosos sabios a los que ordenó que usaran toda su capacidad y razonamientos falsos de manera que Catalinaapostatara; pero ella quedó victoriosa en el debate. Algunos de sus ad-versarios, conquistados por su elocuencia, se de-clararon cristianos y fueron ejecutados. Furioso por no haber conseguido su propósito, Maximino la mandó azotar y después la encarceló. Mientras

tanto, la emperatriz deseosa de ver a una mujer tan extraordinaria se acercó a visitarla a las mazmorras, acompañada de Porfirio, jefe de las tropas, y ambos cedieron a las exhortaciones de Catalina, creyeron, se bautizaron y ganaron inmediatamente la corona de los mártires. Poco después la santa, que lejos de flaquear en su fe, conseguía muchas conversiones, fue condenada a morir en la rueda, pero al tocarla, el instrumento de tortura se destruyómilagrosamente. Enfadado y fuera de control, el emperador la mandó a de-capitar. Unos ángeles trasladaron su cabeza al Monte Sinaí donde más tarde se construyó unmonasterio e iglesia en su honor. Hasta aquí las Actas de Santa Catalina. Clasificada con Santa Margarita y Santa Bár-bara como uno de los catorce santos más útiles en el cielo, fue continuamente alabada por los predi-cadores y cantada por los poetas. Es bien sabido que Bossuet le dedicó uno de sus más hermosos panegíricos y que Adán de San Víctorescribió un magnífico poema en su honor: “Vox Sonora nostri chori”, etc. En muchos lugares su fiesta se celebraba con la mayor solemnidad, se prohibía el trabajo servil, y un gran número de personas asistían a las devociones. En varias diócesis de Francia se observaba como día de fiesta de obligación hasta principios del siglo XVII, y el esplendor de su ceremonial eclipsaba al de las fiestas de algunos

delos Apóstoles. Muchas capillas se pusieron bajo su patrocinio y su estatua se encon-traba en casi todas las iglesias representán-dola, según a iconografía medieval, con una rueda, su I nstrumento de tortura.
