TRANSCRIPT
Whatrsquos new On 15th March Kathryn Moles HMI and Sylwia Holmes one of
Ofsteds researchers will be visiting the Anglo European to discuss
our unique and distinctive curriculum as part of their on-going
research into curriculum design and the impact of a broad curriculum
on studentsrsquo learning achievement and destinations In their last
visit to the school as part of our formal Ofsted inspection senior and
middle leaders engaged in a lively discussion about Anglorsquos
commitment to Languages the Arts and Technologies areas of the
curriculum that are sadly being compromised in other schools as a
result of financial constraints and staff shortages Sean Harford
(HMI) lead inspector wrote ldquoEffective teaching an outstanding
curriculum offer and strong leadership have led to continually
improving results in public examinations These combined with
their destinations and the preparation pupils receive for their next
steps in life mean that pupilsrsquo outcomes are outstandingrdquo
We look forward to welcoming the Ofsted Research team to the
Anglo European and sharing our ethos and practice in the hope of
protecting the vision for a broad balanced and inspiring curriculum

A word from the Sixth Form The unexpected turn of events in the weather last
week whilst problematic from a teaching perspective
as we need every timetabled hour that we can get at
this time of the year also perhaps gave an early
opportunity for both year groups to get on with some
revision for both mock and final exams which I hope
you took full advantage of Upper Sixth students
should have read taken on board and discussed with
their teachers the advice given to them in their T5
reports about how to make the biggest differences in
their learning over the remaining weeks you are with
us Remember it is never too late to be trying your
absolute best as any level of extra effort can make a
difference Lower Sixth students will have completed
their mini-mock assessments in preparation for their
T2 report which will be issued shortly I would
encourage you to reflect upon your performance here
and think about in particular how you are going to
improve your exam technique in preparation for your
Lower Sixth mocks next term Finally Irsquod like to
congratulate all the Lower Sixth students who have
lsquotaken a riskrsquo by signing up for exchange visits over
the next couple of weeks and hope that they have a
wonderful experience in improving not only their
language capabilities but also appreciation of different
cultures Whichever year group you are in letrsquos keep
the momentum going and remain focussed on doing
the right thing because remember lsquohard work beats
talent when talent doesnrsquot work hardrsquo
