WITNESS AND EVANGELISM MINISTRY

11. APOLOGETICS FORUM on “DOES GOD EXIST?” by Rev Anthony Lee Date/Time: Sun, 26 Aug @ 2-4 pmVenue: Sanctuary 3 (Level 5)

One-third of the world are Christians and Roman Catholics, people who profess belief in a great Supreme God. Songs are sung about God, words are spoken in praise of God. But how do we know if God does exist?

Are scientists right to claim God does not exist because there is no empirical proof of God’s existence?

How do we know who is the real God amongst a plethora of gods worshipped world-wide?

How then do we reconcile the existence of a great God with the presence of evil and suffering in this world?

The Witness & Evangelism Ministry presents an opportunity for you to wrestle with this issue of the existence of God and its implication for life here on earth. Rev Anthony Lee to address us on this important subject. Please sign up at the Information Counter asap.* Do submit your questions to PTM Irene Tay or via email, [email protected]. ** Closing date: 19 Aug *** NOTES WILL ONLY BE GIVEN TO PARTICIPANTS WHO HAVE REGISTERED.

12. WHAT IS A TASTE OF ALPHA? A 5-week journey exploring the basics of the Christian faith.WHY A TASTE OF ALPHA?Everyone should have the opportunity to explore the Christian faith, freely ask questions and share their point of view.WHO IS IT FOR? Non church-goers (please invite your family, friends and colleagues who are pre-believers)Young believers and church-goers who feel that they have not received the fundamentals of the Christian faith, or who wish to re-dedicate themselves to the Christian faith.HOW DOES THE COURSE WORK? Each session looks at a different topic surrounding the Christian faith. They explore the basics of Christianity addressing questions such as “Is there more to life than this? Who is Jesus? Why did Jesus die? How can we have faith?”After watching an introductory video, the participants are put together into small groups of 8 to 12 people. These groups are hosted by leaders who facilitate conversation surrounding each topic. We believe food has a way of bringing people together and opening conversations in a community. This is the reason why we provide a sumptuous tea break at every session. There is no charge for attending the course. PARENTING FORUM – STATE OF THE FAMILY – 9 Sep

Calling ALL parents to join us for a talk by Focus on the Family Singapore (FOTF) on the State of the Family. As Christian parents, we are given the awesome yet tremendous responsibility to “train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it” (Proverb 22:6 NKJV). How does that look like in today’s digitised and VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous) world of constant change?

This interactive talk reveals the current data on local Christian families and dives into the practical realities of bringing up the next generation, providing timeless principles and age-appropriate tools to disciple our children in the five pillars of faith, identity, relationships, sexuality and values.

• How can we ensure our kids own and keep their faith?• What makes a secure and confident child?• Do you wish for a parent-child bond that outlasts the independent years?• Is sexual purity still relevant in our children’s generation?• How can our children thrive in a world that seems to have gone wrong?

We are privileged to have Ms Joanna Koh-Hoe, CEO of FOTF as our speaker for this event. Joanna is a psychology graduate and has been involved in various areas in remedial therapy, counselling and case management, family life education and consultancy.

In FOTF, she is involved in the development and rollout of all its major programmes ranging from youth sexuality and marriage, to parenting and work-life. There will be a Q&A session after the talk. The details are on the next page.

PRAYER MINISTRY

14. Breakthrough Weekend (3D 2N Retreat)Prayer Ministry is organizing a 3D 2N Weekend Retreat for those who desire a breakthrough in their spiritual life.Program SynopsisThe essence of Christianity may be said to be our relationship with God the Father. Jesus died & rose again to restore this fundamental relationship. However, many of us have a distorted understanding of who God the Father is because of various reasons like family upbringing and life experiences. As a result, some of these perceptions of God are distorted and hinder deep intimacy with God. This retreat seeks to open our eyes to the Father heart of God as revealed in the Bible. There will be teachings, group sharing, personal reflection, and extended time in God’s presence.Goals for Breakthrough Weekend1) Expose every lie of the enemy. 2) Uproot every lie.3) Plant new seeds of truth and life.Result: Renewed relationship with God our Father, and this will lead to a renewed relationship with others.Date: 26 – 28 Oct (Fri to Sun). Venue: YWCA Fort Canning Lodge.Time: Starting with dinner at 6.00pm on Friday and end after lunch on Sunday. Cost: $150 per pax for Twin/Triple. $300 per pax for Single.

(Inclusive of 2 nights of accommodation, and all meals)Facilitator: Rev Anthony Lee.Closing date of registration: 19 Aug. Places are limited! Lock in this date today and sign up NOW! Enquiries: please contact Ho Ai Choo @ 9698 6767.

S= SHARE YOUR LIFE STORIES

Let your light shine before men and glorify your Father in Heaven. Your light is too dazzling and bright to be hidden. Shine your light to dispel the darkness and bring God’s hope, peace and love to someone.Your story with God is unique and special. It is our belief that it is meant and can serve a greater purpose than just keeping it to your-self.

♥ Share it without hesitation and bring someone one step closer to Christ (Pages 25 to 27 of the BLESS journal).

♥ We encourage all of you to continue to share your journey by pinning your testimonies on the BLESS billboard. You have been an encouragement and blessing! Keep it up!
