Family Carers Networks Inclusion North supports 2 families networks – one in the North East and one in Yorkshire and Humber. We do this on behalf of the National Valuing Families Forum. These networks are open to any family members of people with learning disabilities and carers workers who support families from the North East or Yorkshire and Humber. The meetings are informal and friendly gatherings where we discuss issues that are important to family carers or their family members. The networks support family members of people with learning disabilities and those that support them to

Combating Isolation and Supporting Well-being

Lemon & Crane are running a conference for practitioners on using creativity, nature, positive relationships, friendships, empowering family support and financial inclusion.

Research by Lemos & Crane has found that isolation and negative friendships and relationships were key contributory factors that increased the risk of harassment, abuse and cruelty against adults with learning disabilities living in the community.

The conference will bring together leading experts, experienced front-line practitioners and innovative practitioners, to consider how adults with learning disabilities living in the community can be supported to combat isolation, harassment and abuse and build long-term resilience and well-being.

The conference will take place in London on

20th November 2014

Seen, Valued, Heard

Inclusion North has for the last few years been working

with its members around crime, disability harassment and

hate crime against people with learning disabilities in

different ways.

We also know that many people and organisations have

been doing great work to tackle this in our member areas

too.

Inclusion North is going to hold a big event for its member

areas. The aims of the event are to find out and look at

what has been happening across Yorkshire and the

Humber and the North East and to see if we can link this

work together.

The event is for people and organisations from Inclusion

North member areas only.

The event will be in York on

7th November 2014

Local areas can choose to send two people from a self-

advocacy group from their area to show case their work at

a big market place.

We will be releasing more information about this in the next

week or two.
