Gods powerful Word
The Bible contains about 800,000 words, depending on the translation. This is about four times as many words as are found in a book of average length.
Although the Bible is so long and deals with the greatest themes thatcan engage the human mind, its vocabulary is singularly limited. It
uses only 6,000 different words, a very small number compared to the 20,000 words thatShakespeare employed while writing his plays.
Not only is the Bibles vocabulary limited, but the average word in it contains only five letters. However, many of these short words are full of the deepest meanings and are worthy of earneststudy. For example, consider these five-letter words: grace, peace, faith, saved, serve, glory andJesus.

From the Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Team
MIS-CONCEPTIONS about WHAT HAPPENS TO A SHOEBOX
at CHARLOTTE Processing CenterFALSE: Shoeboxes are emptied and repackaged into standard sizeshoeboxes. The only time a shoebox is emptied is if the box has been damaged byeither the way it was handled on its way to the processing center orsomeone didnt follow the rules in requires to NO LIQUIDS and the liquid
has leaked and damaged not only the box but the contents as well. The processing center has aSHOEBOX HOSPITAL where the box is either re-packed into a good shoebox or in case of the wetbox, contents salvaged as possible and re-boxed.
The logistics of re-packing the roughly 2 million boxesprocessed at Charlotte would be impossible.
FALSE: When a box is processed, multiples of items arepicked out of the box and given to another box.
The INTEGRITY of the shoebox is to be maintained at alltimes. When the box is processed, it is examined for liquids, food, military type and camo items, and breakables. Any of that isremoved, collected, and given to one of 300 charities in theCharlotte area. There is ample filler material available at Charlotte to replace any item removed.People filling a shoebox need to remember the basics: NO Liquids, NO Food due to the attraction ofbugs, NO Military or Camo as many of the boxes are shipped to war torn areas, and NO breakablesdue to damaging other items and possibly injury to the child going through a shoebox gift.
A list of acceptable items as well as the DO and DONT of shoebox filling will
be included in wrapped shoeboxes available September 19th
.Dont forget to be shopping those back to school sales for crayons, pencils, sharpeners, paper, and socks. We need filler material for the Youth Assembly
and the GA/RA party.
Wrap Party September 18, 9AM - Noon. Pick up Shoeboxes Sunday, Sept. 19.If you have questions, ask Amy, Donna, Janet, or Linda.

ALMA HUNT OFFERING 2010Alma Hunt was a Virginia born, world renown Baptist leader,
having served 26 years as WMU National Executive Director andafter retirement as a national and international missions advocate.Until her death at age 98, her sacrificial service was an example forall Virginia Baptists to emulate. Thus, the State Missions Offering ofVirginia was named in her honor in 1998.
The theme for 2010 is OPENING DOORS, based off ofJohn 10:9-10: I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it moreabundantly. (NKJV)
The Alma Hunt Offering for Virginia Missions makes possible special ministries, outreachprojects, and initiatives that are not funded through regular streams of giving but areuniquely connected to Virginia Baptists.WLBCs goal for Virginia Missions is $5,000 towards the state goal of $1,167,500.Focus Week.
